Finally fixed the coil problem c36
Just a heads up to the c36 guys. Since I've owned the car, all but one of the coil cover bolts has been stripped out. The same bolts that go through the coil cover hold down the coils to the engine.
From the junk yard cars I've looked at seems like rotten aluminum valve covers are more common than you might think and seems like a lot of used covers are stripped out. What happens is when the coils are not bolted down right they will shake, that slight shake over time will cause the ground posts on the valve cover to wear away. This leads to the death of the coil eventually. ( as well as over heating from being under the coil cover but that's another issue )
thankfully after market coils are cheap but to be warned they are cheaply made compared the the factory square Bosch. After buying after market STI I ended up buying a set of really nice Bosch coils again after one of the copper grounds pulled out of the coil while trying to remove it to swap valve covers. Used valve cover, used coils.. Few cans of stripper and paint.. Good as new

FWIW, I never ever buy anything but Bosch when it comes to critical electrical engine components. I know others may be happy with their NGK or whatever, but I absolutely don't take risks with that stuff. Bosch plugs, wires, and coils ONLY for me.

^^Agreed^^, nothing beyond Bosch Electricals, but i'm not that good fan with Bosch plugs,,
NGK/Denso are better, even MB provides them as OEM with most of powerFUL models...

Agreed, only thing you got to watch out for running the square Bosch coils is cracking of the coil body due to heat as mentioned earlier. other than that they are a quality part. Plus they look cool..
Now I just need to find a replacement injector cover and cam transmission cover. They are always broken or missing when I find them at junkyards.

Lazy man route and went factory.. For the money just wasn't worth the time. For all that need them the part numbers are
104-150-00-66 for the "cap suppressor" (large plastic on front of valve cover.
104-159-04-25 for the cover that hides injectors. (I guess there is a couple different numbers for this cover depending on it's length from what the parts guy "durableswedish" was saying..

Thanks.. It's a strange color. Not quite green.. Not quite olive.. Not quite brown.. just it's own color.
I also took the dremel and cut off the broken mounts on the cross over tube and cleaned that up too.
