so whats the deal with MAF sensors?

I am looking into busying a new one for my 43 but im researching first.

Can someone school me on this?

Why do a lot of the inserts look the same but have different part numbers? Also some mercedes cars carry inserts that have same part numbers but sit in a smaller tube. Does this mean this insert would work on my car?

For example my 2000 c280 has a different looking housing since the intake setup is different but the insert is identical to the one on my c43. Ill check the part numbers when I get home.

Also 2000 audi s4 maf looks identical to the one our cars use? Does this mean it would work on our cars? Is there any risk when swapping these from other models? Someone here posted saying that they are a lot cheaper for audis.

Can anyone shed light on this?

The part # in these inserts refers to the Bosch production lines & delivery orders,

I tried inserts from many models, Audi/BMW/VW/Land Rover, they work fine without any issue,,

you should to go with inserts which used in drive by cable models, not drive by wires..!

Can you share what specific ones you used and from which car? Also the price compared to mb ones?

Someone here said they are $60 at audi. If thats the case id be stupid to pay 150 at mercedes for the same thing

I tried inserts from many models, they works,

i prefer to get hole MAF with housing then take-off the insert to fit it in your housing, cause many companies copied those inserts easier & cheaper than combined it with housing,

recently; i bought (2) MAF's from BMW, Bosch #: "0 280 217 814", and Land Rover Bosch #: "0 280 218 010", they are cheaper & works great,,

of course many other models will work fine from Audi/VW/Porsche..

ZAYED,,
how much cheaper were original MAF's from BMW or LandRover compared to MAF for MB?
did you buy original BOSCH maf's from steelership or aftermarket BOSCH?

steelership takes approx 500 dollars for maf in sweden, talk about getting robbed!

No need to get OEM MAF, just stick with Bosch, don't go with any other aftermarket brands,,

can't tell the differ's prices, it depend of countries/local shops,,

i got MB/Bosch MAF here about ($122), while BMW/Land Rover around ($82)..!

it's the currency conversion, making 500 hundred sound steep.

my stealership has the worst rep in my country among MB owners, the owner of stealership bought all competitors dealerships on westcoast making him the one and only KING
now he can put any high/low --> (never gonna happen) pricetag he wants on every part.
now we all MB owners get to suffer because of this.

from now on i buy my expensive parts directly from german dealerships

Should the car run normal with the maf unplugged or is it supposed to struggle idling?

Maybe i'm mistaken, but i think if no any change with MAF unplugged, means MAF is not good or something wrong in voltage current signal (4.5>>4.85) goes & back to the MAF..!
