C43 dash mods. what to do with the built in phone contoller?
Hi Guys.
So I'm upgrading the stereo and did get the phone phone controller to pop out with no damage.
I noticed on a site that the base cars had a open "bin" here..i guess a wallet stash. But on a google of c43 dashes Im seeing many people doing different things. In fact i spotted a double din mod with the wood trim seemingly perfect. Another showed a carbon fiber blank panel. Im actually thinking of making a small indented shelf for an old smart phone running a OBD2 app displaying mpg and max HP stuff like that.
The issue is Im a hack. So im looking for resellers that make sell a snap in shelf. Or even the original phoneless w202 shelf. But ive no idea what this is called so Im getting no fun trying to find....
This could be a thread on whats everyones done for this?
In any case If I dont get any help most likely Ill just velcro my old smart phone on the phone controllers face.....

Check eBay. I used to get random pieces from a salvage yard seller there.

and hes offered to give it to me...i sent a ups label lickety split. ill post the pics of the final dash..with the new stereo. rumor is ill need to run a switched +12V....well see.
i do want to run a shielded cable to the truck for my amplified sub box. ill bone up on this else where. the priority is low. most likely ill just run a rca set down from the back of the radio to the passenger knee wall and run a second patch cable back when i have time....
