My dreamcar! SOLD! cant believe this. The story behind the car

Hello fellow MB fanatics.

I want to share a quick story with you all. I am going to try to keep this short and not bore you all.

A week ago it happened, I sold my C36! Yeah I know what you are thinking how could you!!
Took me 6 months to finally separate me from my car going back and forward on the debate. What made me do it was the offer of a unique car! (will tell you guys later, this is about my c36)
Well I am sorry I had to let the c36 go, reasons I will explain later.
First I do want to tell end express how amazing it was to own and drive! Hard to explain, but as amg owners most of you probably know what kind of special these cars can give you. The C36 AMG was my dreamcar when I was a teenager.
I know, most people think a old W202 is a boring and slow car, friends back at the time liked vw golfs and bmw m3s etc. But I wanted that old box shaped C36 AMG really really bad. Why? The car impressed my emotions from the first moment I got behind the wheel of one, I immediately knew what the special AMG feeling is. Loved its seats, and that engine note, and so many other aspects! This straight six was always ready to rev and just go go!

So this is what happened in short a few years ago. Just before I turned 17 I found a first owner Blue 96 C36. Bought the car! Fixed its problems (transmission, steering etc etc). Car was a joy and a headache from time to time. Went to a lot of meetings with the car, always had a lot of joy in it! Even drove it on the Nurburgring during an AMG promotion event. What an experience, was really impressed by it ! it was a lot of fun!

After I did some modifications to it (see my sig) the car really became mine! It wasn’t just a c36 it really was my c36, my pride and joy. Everyone close to me knew how much the C36 was worth to me. It is amazing how a car can remember someone of emotional periods of time and experiences. Wasn’t a car, it was part of my life that now is over. But no sad faces there is new whip and yes it sure is a Mercedes-Benz.

*Owned it for 4.5years
Do want to share some last pictures of my C36: Hope you all enjoyed my story

Lets talk about the new car! Always enjoyed reading the different posts about 55 swaps on 43s. It triggered something inside of me, I really wanted to meet the AMG V8! After test-driving and experiing different cars I knew for sure, the V8 Mercedes-Benz powered car is the one for me. Seen a lot of C43s/C55/CLK55/E55 in person on different meets always enjoyed these cars and knew I wanted to own one someday. Couldn’t really figure out what chassis would be the best one for me, I had a hard time deciding on what I liked most. Then the following happened:

Was searching Dutch car websites for secondhand cars for a few weeks(something I do about everyday), nothing was really up to my hopes unfortunately.
Suddenly I found a CLK a v8! Wasn’t exactly sure what it was at first sight after reading the details it became clear. It is the 6.0 version of the C209 from Carlsson! I got excited after finding out there was a real 6.0 CLK Carlsson for sale. Did some further research on the car, its model name is CM60 in particular. Carlsson has made this certain package available for different models, (c208/w210/w220/wc219). Couldn’t find any info on the CM60 version of the C209! Started to believe it didn’t even really existed. Even though my doubts and the fact the selling dealership was on the other side of the country I immediately made an appointment for the next day.

The car:
At the day of visit I didn’t really know what to expect but sure it was nerve racking day for me. First thing to do was finding out if it is the real deal! All was there, the official Carlsson maintenance paperwork and official Carlsson chassis stamps for example. Was very happy to find out ! This might be the only CM60 C209 or just one of few made. Condition of the car is very good! Actually better than I expected. The dealership selling the car claimed it to have 450hp! I doubt this, however I do have to add my but dyno tells me it has enough hp to be a real joy!
Originally the car was bought at Mercedes Benz in Holland as a CLK500 with fulloptions in 2003. In the same year the car went for its carlsson transformation in Germany.

Specs:
These are the specs I found on my searsch:
Power 302.0 kw / 405.0 bhp @ 5500 rpm
Torque 640 nm / 472.0 ft lbs @ 3600 rpm
0 – 60 5.2+- claimed for the CL version wich is a lot heavier (4100 LB vs 3,585)
Great numbers for a car based on the 2003 CLK500. It should have the weight of a normal CLK500.
Stock CLK500 did a 0 – 60 in 5.8.
Not sure what kind of figures this CM60 really makes, not even that important to me to be honest. Feels good on acceleration and starts to really impress after 60mph.

Design:
I can imagine a lot of people will not like it! The AMG model is the one loved and known to most. Personally I always really liked the AMG design, however I always found it to be a bit to normal and not aggressive enough for my liking. Now lets get back to talking Carlsson:
Its bumper design is comparable to for example the C37RS, Carlsson has a particular style that you either love or hate. I love it! How it is aggressive but still subtle (not sure if it is the right word).
The black accents are lovely on the stock Mercedes silver colour. It also has carbon wrap on the hood/roof and mirrors. Wasn’t really sure if I was going to like this at first. However after seeing in real life I believe it fits it personality. Then there are the wheels! Original Carlsson 1/16 design 18inch, if I am not mistaking this design was introduced in 2003! Exhausts are good looking not overdone and quality.

On the next couple of days, weeks I want to post more about the experience and learn more on it. In the meanwhile I am loving the drive by a lot!

*pics dont do it justice, just some quick shots

there's many contrast colors on this car's exterior don't you think?
silver, red, black, carbon style
car screams a lot

calipers are they painted and have a Carlsson logo on them?
if not maybe you will paint them back to silver to blend in better with the rest of your car

Carlsson logo has wear off from the brakes
kind of like how the car looks in reallife the carbon really suits the black end the red calipers I like them. 350mm size
Dont think I will do anything on the outside of the car, I will get the wheels redone to get them in the best condition possible.

I like how it stands out from the crowd.

I can understand what you mean. I really had a good time with my W202 enjoyed it to its most. I believe it was the best to sell, I enjoyed it alot and didnt want to ruin this experience. I believe over time I would regret not trying out different cars.

To be fair quality feeling of this W209 is up to my level of expectation so far Not sure if it has to do with the fact its a Carlsson. Maybe I will be back in a W202 in the future. I tried to find a nice C43 but really couldnt find anything in the right condition.

Great read thanks , I hope that the 209 can give you same feeling the 202 did

When I saw carlsson I was hoping it was manual C37...but I fully understand the V8 need, its not as untamed/lively as the M104 but all that torque wins..

Do agree on the C36 feeling more untamed! loved that alot about the m104 great joy.

Driving the CM60 does get me a great satisfaction. Obviously the engine has monsters torque and has a great lineair power delivery. It surprises me how much it feels like a performance car. Steering is great, feeling is a bit gone but it stil is very precise and the body has very little roll. The car doesnt feel as nose heavy as expected The big brakes ad up to the feeling of a performance car.
Looking foward to attacking the German Eifel. Driving straights is fun, but the real party is in the tactical roads

Havent pushed it to its full potential yet but at the limit it does give me an untamed experience. Most of the time this car fights oversteer the way carlsson set up its suspension it rather cornours than drifts you can feel the car fight to its grip levels.

So far it definetly is a great drive, c36 was the prologue this is the game.
