Bought a daily driver W202
Hey guys-
I just picked up a 1998 C280 for daily use to keep the miles down on my C43. I did not mention on here that that my C43 was recently rear ended and is being repaired by insurance. They initially wanted to total it but I won the battler and it will hold a clean title. So I will be doing a light restore on it once I get it back, since this whole mess re ignited my passion for the car, almost having lost it.
Anyway, I got a steal on this C280 with only 104k on it and it was a one owner car! Paid $1900 and its near perfect for its age. I will be throwing some monoblocks I have on it and cleaning it up a bit. I just love W202's. This is now the 4th one for me.

Awesome car! I picked up a black opal '99 C280 elegance for a daily driver as well. I purchased it from the original owner for $3500 CAD and he threw in a set of 18" staggered monoblocks. The car has only 54K Kms as he barely ever drove it.

sorry about your AMG hookah.
how bad was impact on your car?
did yo take any pics of damage that you can share with us?
insurance wanted to total your car coz age and mileage?
I hope you get it fixed without issues.
stealerships are real dumba$$ when they repair cars.
they only think about profit by taking shortcuts on repairs
I hope you didn't suffer any injury?

Thanks! You got a great deal! Original owner tells you something about these cars, if someone did not buy a new car for almost 20 years.

i'm glad insurance thought things over and decided to repair than to scrap your car.
in USA do you have insurance companies which are specialized in specific automotive brands?
I have a Mercedes insurance specialized only for MB cars.
meaning they offer you a special insurance policy only covering brands like Mercedes cars, BMW etc etc.
If you crash, your car will be towed to approved MB stealership, car will be repaired with original parts by qualified repairmen.
It doesn't mean they will do a 100% perfect repair job, it depends on how skilled repair guy is?
also if he takes pride in his repair work?
a repair guy who takes pride in his work, is hungry, goes by the book on every repair step will always do a great job.
I think you should tomorrow morning call body shop talk to shop boss.
Tell him you want the best skilled repairman working on your car.
You don't want a klutz with no experiance repairing MB cars.
tell them it's your pride and joy and that you are very picky.
you will go through everything with a fine comb when you get her back.
any issue you find you will go back and complaint to body shop boss

MBWorld Fanatic!
I love my 2000 c280 almost as much as my c43.
The tiptronic trans is definetly cool
I bought it with a blown motor. If I knew about the 3.7 L m112 v6 back then I would have looked into swapping that in there. I sorted out the 2.8 and got the car back on the road within a few weeks. Shes been running good ever since. Its been a few years.
