i could but will require some work and price will go higher. Not really worth it. People can just buy those AMG placks and add it on.

Great idea George

The only negative point I can see is that the boxes, regardless of size (nice increase on the modded one), are sitting just above the exhaust manifolds. I would recommend getting the underside (also the sides) of the boxes covered with some gold insulation sheeting or similar heat insulation to reduce heat sink.

Thanks Daniel. That would help for sure. What I've noticed is that these boxes have a much better plastic than our stock c43 air boxes. When I welded the plastic after raising it I had a hard time as the plastic didn't melt easy. Has some great heat resistant material. But that material you linked would be helpful.

It fits and seals perfectly. And let's the engine breath big time. Look at how big that thing is! No air restriction whatsoever. Inside the rubber right at the maf connection I have a aluminum bell mouth to draw in air better. I tried with and without it installed and seems to run and pull better with it installed.

Small things just help the engine. I'm surprised no one has said YET that it's impossible that I'm making 18-20 HP from this setup. When I punch the gas the car kicks hard and pulls so fast it's crazy. Can only imagine this setup on the 5.4 engine.

i think its possible. for what i guess is sales and marketing reasons, MB severely restricted the intake and exhaust on this vehicle. i mean think about it, they continue to use the same design for how many years and how many models. in fact, its the same engine with minor changes even after they decided to go forced induction.

also i dont think the 5.4 engine is that much greater than the 4.3. i mean lets say you open up the 4.3, and i read adding induction is more hp on the 4.3 than the 5.4..

For sure, very restrictive comparing the stock performance when I bought the car to now with my mods it's a big difference! That's why I always say I can only imagine my mods on the bigger engine. My C43 is really fast, I'm actually scared to floor it in the highway. Can't wait to see how it will pull once I do the dual exhaust AND do the throttle body porting. I've read you can get up to 8HP which I be happy with 5! Every bit helps and compliments all the other small mods.

One thing I don't understand is why you said the 5.4 is not that much better than the 4.3? Can you explain a little more? Anyone with the 5.4 upgrade ever do a dyno?

i meant i read the c43 is superior if you go forced induction, bigger gains and you can add more boost. sure the 5.4 will dominate n/a.

ok I see. I've always liked my engines N-A but with mods here and there. Btw Mickey, on the thread that you checked out the prices for the custom air setup. Make sure you get the biggest T to install on top of the maf housing. I tested a few and the best one was the rubber one I currently have. It being rubber I warmed it up really good and slipped in a 3 inch aluminum bell house where it hooks to the maf. Believe it or not it makes a difference.

If you guys want to make your own system. Start with this rubber T trust me. It's a FANTASTIC part. From there you can go with any tubing you like. If you use anything else you will not get that engine to breath at its full potential.

nice, im really thinking forced induction eventually but i have a second engine which i guess that means i have to buy a second car... but im just not sure i'll do another C43, i might go slk. so just depending on what i do.. if i get an slk then im going to evntually turbo the c43 but if i end up getting another c43 (not sure what the point of having 2 would be plus space issues) then i would either just do CAI or maybe buy something from you. unfortunately im not in a rush so only time will tell. if i do turbo on the c43 then im going to pull out the 5.4 and sleeve it like the other one i am planning to do.

I would like to offer an air setup for $350.00 and no higher. And also that will fit more Mercedes besides the C43. You know those clk boxes that have the MERCEDES word in the middle? Those boxes have great potential in making power after gutting them. And the cool thing is they can be bought between $45-65.00. Compared to the $110-145 C43 air box.

Well, since there's no interest in this setup time to call it a day. Next air box setup will be posted in another Mercedes forum, that may be just as bad as this one in interest. I will however have my mod the FFE Fast Flowing Elbow to sell here from time to time.
