C43 / E55 engine cover emblem
Hi all,
I recently spent a bit of time looking to replace the star on the plastic engine cover that costs a bloody fortune from the dealer...
The bootlid star from a W211 is an extremely close fit, so close that you have to look close to know its not exact.
Part number is A 211 758 00 58
Im pretty happy with it, my original was still there, but was black due to the chrome coming off.
The ////AMG letters are the same as fitted to the bootlid.

No, there is no holes, you have to drill 3 of them, i fitted some emblem retainer clips to the 3 pins and pushed them into the holes.
You have to be sure to drill the holes undersized so you can test fit without the retainer clips and be sure it will be spot on centre, if it isnt, you can enlarge the holes in the direction you need to go.
The emblem i used is larger than the original, but the ring covers the outer edge of the emblem identation, and the star part fills the star indentation quite nicely.
This is not factory perfect, but it really is quite close and a great option, it doesnt look out of place and doesnt look like youve tried to make the wrong part fit, and it was about $25 AUD for the emblem delivered to my door, instead of the $570ish the dealer wants for a new original cover.
Ultimately, if there was a flat emblem that was around 3mm-4mm smaller, that would probably be a perfect fit, but i couldnt find one.

did stealership partsguy tell you if front cover is still available for sale or is it NLA nowadays?
when i bought a new front engine cover maybe 7-8 years ago, i was told there was a low quantity at MB for this cover.
wonder if it's sold out?
