Surround View Camera System on MY 2016
Guys, I just checked out the MBUSA site for the changes between the 2015 and 2016 MY AMG C63 family, and I noticed that there was a huge change, the Surround View Camera.
For those of you who don't know, the Surround View Camera places a camera under each side-view mirror and one up front, and those work in tandem with the rear-facing camera to project a 360 view around the car. It even has a fancy "over-head" display of the car when you're parking displayed on the center console.
When I optioned out the car back in July and again in August for final approval, I was not given this option. Fast forward to today, and it's listed in the online configurator as a $1290 option (up from $970 for PARKTRONIC-only).
With my car locked in August 18th, I know it's impossible to get it added to my build, so I'm more than a little annoyed to know that this option was indeed available for the MY16 cars. There was talk here and on the W205 C class forums about this feature not being available for the MY16 C class in the US due to limited stock, so why would it suddenly pop up.
So now my question is, do you think it's feasible to get this option added at the dealership after my car arrives? I know it's a long-shot, but it has to be pre-wired for this as a cost-saving initiative, right?
Other changes include the new designo seats, Cardinal Red paint, removal of silver seatbelt choice (still listed in car description page), Blind Spot Assist is now standard. The configurator also shows the C63s with the standard silver brakes in the picture, but that's definitely a mistake.
Sidenote: I'm kicking myself for choose black seatbelts over the silver ones. Is it possible to order the silver ones and replace them??

Are you sure it was not the "PARKTRONIC with Active Parking Assist" package instead. I have a MY16 on order and was told when ordering that the Parking Assist Package was unavailable.

You are correct - I misspoke trying to say the Parking Assist package is unavailable but that I had "PARKTRONIC with Active Parking Assist."

It's a bit misleading...

I feel like my entire ordering process has been misleading at this point. I was told there was no changes from MY15 to MY16 and even when i inquired about the surround camera's and different interior options i was told this would not be available. I'll more than likely cancel my current order then reorder when i can be 100% sure what exactly my options are. Very annoying...

Surround view is available to order on the C450 as of 9/10. A bunch of builds have shown up with it. I haven't tried, but it seems strange that it can't be ordered on the C63/C63S.

Yeah...It was too late for me as well...
My dealer called the build process manager to see if there was anyway to add it now (I think he did it just to see what response he would get - neither of us thought there was any hope of actually getting it added)... the answer was Obama himself would have to order another vehicle at this point

I doubt Obama would even be able to get them to change a build. How hard is it to get silver seat belts out of the parts bin instead of black ones? Can't even change that...

It's odd that the package is not available for the dealer configurator for the C63S, but IS available on the MBUSA website!! I just confirmed all of this with my dealer who is also baffled. He could not confirm (or deny) that the system has been moved to MY17 since it is available for the C450 which is sourced from the same factory.

I also just spoke with my dealer who confirmed that he can see the option on the 2016 ordering guide but when it comes to ordering the option is not available. Perhaps with short supply of the surround view system they are allocating them to the C450 first over the C63...

I think it makes sense that MB would allocate the cameras to the car that would sell more volume, the C450. While it absolutely sucks that the C63 won't get them, financially, it they would get more in return due to volume alone.
Why they couldn't just give some to the C63, I have no idea, but we didn't even get brilliant blue or the full carbon fiber exterior package, so at this point, I've given up.

My dealer also confirmed that the 360 camera is not yet available for the C63 and that availability is uncertain for the near future. He's checking into the possibility of a retrofit.

Talk about dysfunction...I called MBUSA and they were adamant that the camera was available for the C63. They said "yes, confirmed online and in order guide". Crazy that corporate is clueless to this supposed camera shortage. Would be wonderful if we could get a definitive answer/explanation from corporate/dealership.
