2016 C63S
I think this "late" introduction is making it hard for me not to wait until the 2016 model year. I was really hoping to get one by March or April the latest which is unlikely now.
6-8 weeks minimum is what I am hearing for order to completion so I am looking at June at best. 2016 orders will probably start in Oct .

I check the MB website everyday to see if the configurator is up. I'm thinking
my "deadline" will be March 15 so I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Well it all depends on how many allocations your dealership has, and what their build date is. For example if the build date in the U.S is lets say March 11th you can see the car within a few days to a week or so after that depending on where you're located since U.S built cars can technically be shipped within 1-2 days based off what MBUSA said on the PL. So it's still possible that you could get the car in March or April considering if your dealership has a available allocation, although I doubt you'd be able to make changes to the order since it would most likely be frozen by now or soon to be frozen.

The cars are built in decades. Each month has 3 decades (1st 10 days is the first decade) and so forth. My car is a 4/1 Decade build.

Hmmm so looks like ED1's are being built way before the normal models. Wonder what build dates others have for their ED1's. Seems like Canada has it a bit differently. The system here shows the exact date that it's supposed to be built for example March 11th for me. Which for the U.S would be the second decade.

The earliest US builds are 4/1 Decade. Canada production is different despite both being assembled in the US. The E1's are starting production in June for US vehicles.

Ahhhhh. Well then it might just be possible that I could get my car at the same time as you guys or before you depending how long the car will be in Windsor or if it'll be directly shipped to Edmonton.

Also things have changed for the ED1 in the U.S? Since the order guides stated that they should be available at retail launch with final deliveries by July

what the heck!! 30-45 days to deliver??? it takes less than 2 weeks in production. I think about 10 days. It takes about 1-2 day to ship out. then probably 2-3 days for the dealer to get.

I think it actually takes about 2-4 days for the car to be built. Although 30-45 days to deliver! Geez that's ridiculous if he lives in the U.S.

Nope, although it should be up tomorrow I'm guessing since it's finalized already, and the MBUSA websites hints that the build configurator could be up at any moment.

That is not necessarily the case. Once the car is finished; its about 2 weeks to reach the dealership. That is how long it takes to go from Alabama to New Jersey.

That's the word from my dealership. If I keep 30-45 days in my mind, then it'll be a big bonus if I get it sooner.

Saw tons of stuff online stating that building a car in a plant can take anywhere from 17-18 hours or 2-4 days.

I think they dry it with heaters etc. Here's a video of the build process

Just read more into it and ya it takes about 17-20 hours to assemble a Toyota. 20 hours or less to assemble a golf depending on if it's a DSG etc. Which is all done in 2-4 days. So Mercedes should be around that range of 2-4 days also.
