Black Spoke Forged Rims

So I went to another dealer in my area today to see what kind of pricing they could come up with. He told me they still don't know when the Black Forged Spoke rims will be available. I thought they were supposed to be available on 2016 models?

I dont care much for the stock rims and id rather not spend 8k on HRE's.

My order had a 10/30 estimated build date with the black wheels; I dropped them and it went to early August.

I like the twin 5-spoke wheels, even if the style is a bit common.

I can get an October build but the sales rep said we don't know if the system will renegg the order once it'd get closer to October.

How do you clean these? I go touchless carwash but it seems there is always break dust. Feeling kind of sticky?

I found a local car wash heated soap + softened water. It works great, no scrubbing or touching them.

Not from Germany, but spent my childhood years there. Years ago my father was stationed at Rhein-Main Air Base, he had a small apartment somewhere outside of Frankfurt.

I have the black Ed1 wheels and there I love them! Definitely happy I don't have to shell out 8k-10k for good aftermarket wheels as that was my plan all along, get everything in one go and not worry about mods.

Now... I do have one slight problem. There is a DISGUSTING amount of bronzish/redish brake dust after just a few hundred miles:

When clean they look AMAZING. When dirty, its embarrassing. I am learning to clean them more often than the car: one spray bottle with water+car wash soap, one with just water. Spray down, let all the bad stuff wash away, then dry with microfiber cloth. I'm going to try the "matte wheel cleanser" stuff I keep hearing about but for now, to get a quick clean for a date, this works fine.

Exactly! I have to wash the rims every 2-3 days of Normal driving. Like i said above, i found a quick solution for $1.75 at the local car wash.

What is the color of the lip on the non edition 1 black wheels? I see the red ring on the edition 1, but having a hard time telling if it is black or polished on the non-e1's.

Thanks for sharing cleaning tips! Will try. I love these rims but wish they were gloss black to match the A wing, mirror, rocker, and spoiler, and that would make it less susceptible to dust attachment and easier to clean. Just my thoughts. 😀

They are polished. From every picture I have seen they appear that way. For sure not black.

I haven't seen the non edition 1s in person though.

They are available on the MY 16. However, depending upon your production date, the capacity may be filled.

It's just so ridiculous, if I'm paying 90k for a car I should be able to choose whatever wheel I want. Just poor decision making from MB

My build is scheduled for Nov because I selected the forged Titanium wheels. If I deleted them, then my build date would move back to the beginning of Oct. I want the wheels so I will keep the Nov date. It's all about demand exceeding anticipated supply.

It's the same wheel as the E1. The E1 just adds the red lip.

Yeah that is what I'm trying to see - how the lip looks on the non e1 wheel
