Finally Arrived
Picked up yesterday.
Heads up for those that already have their C63 or are picking up shortly. There is a software update so the transmission downshifts at better points. Otherwise it may not downshift fast enough and the turbos are useless. I came off an on ramp, hit the gas, and nothing. After the software upgrade works much better.
There is also an optional upgraded oil cooler coming out from MB for those that are thinking of tracking the car. Its too soon to know how much but I was told between $3,000 to $5,000 CAD.

Impressions:
1.The design of the centre console really makes the interior feel like it is wrapped around you.
2.The car seems more planted around corners. It maybe the inch or so in width, the tires, or the extra length of the car.
3.The driver selection button on the centre console is so smart. Once you program how you want to normally drive the car, then save it in individual settings. So no more getting in the car and changing to traction control, the transmission settings, etc. Just get in, once flick upwards into individual mode and you are all set.
4.Braking. Not really pushed it yet but I like the idea of the floating brakes now on the back brakes.
5.Bi-Polar. The car really now has a split personality. In comfort mode it is wife-friendly. Cushy. Not to jerky or rough. But take it out of that even into Sport + and it comes to life. So it really can be used to take people around who would rather be in a grand tourer. The old one did not have as many options to change, and thus my wife did not like the ride.
6.Turbos - not really feeling turbo lag yet.
7.Exhaust - because it is a smaller block, the exhaust is louder at lower RPM's than the old model. I am hearing the noises I would hear at 3,000 RPM in my 507, but around the 2,000 rpm range in the new car. The car sputters and pops more during downshifts. The sport exhaust is amazing. You can clearly hear the difference. It is much more aggressive than the old exhaust. I also think that in both settings you still hear the exhaust more than on the 507. The 507 I would hear a bit, but it always sounded great when you stood behind it or had the windows down. This car sounds great driving around even with the windows up.
8.Fans - the fan stays on for a few minutes after you stop the car, in order to cool the turbos. Just something we did not have on the old one.
9.Menus, options, etc. There is just so much more now that you can reprogram and tweak in the menus. It's almost overwhelming. It will take a me a while to get the hang of all the menus.
Still have to work the car in another 800K before I can push it. But so far even babying it, lots of fun.

Yeah, it sucks to be tall. So many cars I do not fit in well.

Because I am braking the car in, it's hard to tell really.
It seems more fun to drive because the smaller block means it is revving a tad higher than the 6.2 did.
But it is fast. The turbos come in seamlessly driving around town.
But I will give you a better idea once I can push it a bit more. Only 800 K more to go til I can do that.

Before I forget.
The fit and finish are great. I know there was some concern that this car is not built in Germany. And would this mean build issues. But everything looks great, and I do not see any gaps or issues with how it is put together. No squeaks or rattles either.
The interior of the car is much more luxurious. The materials feel better. The paddle switches on the car feel more expensive than on the 507. The ergonomics of the car is great. You can really tell sitting in it that they have spent a lot of time trying to improve on the old model.
Seats - are much better than the 507. They seem to support you better overall, and the knee supports are good as well. The side bolsterers are there but not getting in the way as much getting in and out of the car. I had a few passengers comment with the 507 about the side bolsters feeling tight even when adjusted as wide as they could. But this car, the seats firmness is there, but no complaints yet about the side bolsters being too constraining as they seem to adjust wider than in the old car.
I am missing the shifter on the console, but I am quickly adapting to it in that I now drive with both hands on the wheel. You cannot really have your hand on the centre console as when you do you tend to accidentally activate the touchpad on that mouse control thing. So it kind of forces you to put the right hand on the steering wheel which is probable a good thing anyway.

My car goes in Tuesday for the 1,800 mile diff oil change and to fix the jammed pano roof liner. I'll definitely ask about the software update. I had not noticed slow or delayed shifting in S+ mode, but I'm always happy for more performance.
As for the upgraded oil cooler, I am concerned. The W204 models had serious problems with heat on the track which AMG finally addressed with a $5,000+ package. I really expected AMG to learn from the past and build the W205 with adequate cooling from the start, particularly with the official press launch at the track with lots of hot laps.

Now that you have some miles on your car, what is your impression of it?

Yeah, you should find downshift points make more sense now. And if in manual mode the car will now downshift much sooner. I found before the update, there were times the car would not downshift on it's own in manual mode until I came to a full stop. Weird.

In manual mode I would be in say 5th gear, slow down a lot, and it would stay in 5th, instead of shifting down to 2nd. It would only shift into 1st or 2nd at a full stop.
What it meant is if you did not come to a complete stop, and you hit the gas, the car was in too high a gear to really do much and the turbos had no exhaust to spool up. No different than being in too high a gear in manual.
Car now downshifts are the correct points to let you accelerate out if you slow down but do not come to a full stop.

I just wanted to throw some video of the car up for now. Once broken in I will out a mic by the exhaust and do more exterior videos.

MBWorld Fanatic!
What a great thread, loved watching the vids and all the rest of the literature was very informative thanks for sharing
I can really relate to your point No.5 in one of your earlier posts, one big reason (amongst others) I did not buy a C204 C63 was that my wife really hated the "to loud" noise part of it and every time I got and still do get my hands on one for a week or 2 at a time she refuses to go in it
I really hope the normal comfort settings are a lot quieter on this new model or I'm going to have a tough time convincing my wife to accept it when the time comes for me to acquire a C205 C63...I can then open it up with the sport exhaust for myself to enjoy when I'm driving alone or with friends
I hear there is also an option for extra quiet glass to subdue exterior noise even more.
