Your input on used car prices

I have been on the market for a while now that my aging 05 clk55 has reached 100k miles milestone. I am currently considering 3 different cars with same exact options (P2, multimedia, and amg leather):

2010 Black/black (new): 69k MSRP down to 64k with a bit of wiggle room for a negotiation.

2009 Silver/grey (3000+ miles): 53k with CPO

2009 Silver/black (5000+ miles): 51.9K

With 2011 models rolling out, I am wondering which one is the best choice. Thanks for your valuable inputs!

This is my debate as well. I wonder if its worth it to save 10k to buy a year old with <10k on her. Any differences between 09's to 10's? What are the terms of CPO C63 AMGs?

The 2009 silver/grey with 3000 miles at $53k sounds like a good deal. You would save $16k. Not to mention, it will have more wiggle room since they probably screwed a poor soul on trade-in or got it dirt cheap at auction. I bet you can lower it to $50k at least

I'm feeling screwed if those are good prices.. I paid 49,980 for my 09 (CPO atleast), but it had 14k miles on the clock...

Don't feel bad at all jvan, 50K for a CPO is a hell of a deal. I paid 56K for my CPO (it has perf package and got 4 new tires) and that was about 7 months ago.
I agre that the 53K CPO sound like the better deal.
OP: feel free to do a search regarding the differences between 09 and 10. Outside, the mirrors have changed and inside the big deal IMHO is the new interface for the IPOD/Iphone

I paid 52K brand new. Wait till the end of August. You will be able to get a 2010 for a steal. Patience...

+1 and that's why I was thinking he can negotiate the $53k down to $50k or even $49k. If the dealer is asking $53k, then you know you can definitely negotiate lower than that. Never give the dealer the asking price.

You can wait, but you might not get exactly what you want. I would rather get exactly what I wanted and pay a few K extra. Or, if color, etc., is flexible, then you can afford to wait. But remember, the economy is better now than last summer, so you may not get similar incentives and waiting might not get you anywhere... the whole supply/demand thing....

Folks, thanks for your inputs.

3000 miles + CPO: the dealer would not budge (yet...)

5000 miles: new price at 49K. Is this a good enough price to pull a trigger?

Brand new: still waiting to hear if there is any incentive program a la last year.

Well, 5000 miles still has a decent amount of warranty left, CPO is of course nice, if you can get an extended warranty, that might go a long way as well. These cars are build well, but in the event of a problem.. repairs can get costly..

Buy brand New. with your perfect credit score and great income. With a good down , you'll be the only one to EVER drive ther car, So you break it in RIGHT. the differance in the monthly payment is not worth buying used. If $200-$400 is a huge difereance in a monthley payment to you, then yes you don't have a choice. It's not a honda or Toyota, Its a real nice sports car. Now go BUY your BRAND NEW beast. and have a blast..

Definitely something to consider. I'm not sure of the ramfications but the slightly used vehicles with 3-5k are likely demos and they are not broken in properly. However, you do save a lot of money buying them and if you're going to offload the vehicle in 2-3 years for a new toy anyway then it's probably fine.

The slightly used ones are not always demo. I bought mine with 12K miles, CPO, brand new tires and it was a forum member so I knew how he treated it. $49K is a good deal. This is 20K off MRSP plus charges like guzzler tax. That is $386 per month in payment difference (6%, 5 years) and this make a huge difference IMHO.

Where do you see the one for $3K @ $53K

I'm in your same dilemma... seems like these cars haven't 'really' leveled off yet... seeing some buy brand new for low 50's... and others paying $70K new... I would expect these cars to be closer to the $45K to $50K range... but used... with less than 10K on them... they still seem to be pulling $55K to $60K.

I'm looking for an '09 P30 Car with less than 5,000 miles on it... for $50K. TODAY!

Thanks,
