Stock alarm vs Aftermarket alarm
A few weeks ago.. Somebody broke into the garage of my apt around 2:00 am..
Then ripped off my roof trying to steal my Nav. system..
I got the aftermarket alarm(viper) n it waked me up n let me know smth happened on my car..
I was so tired.. but I went down to garage..
Then.. I saw some dark shadow was in my car..
I yelled at him n he took off..
Fortunately, there was nothing missing.. but.. my soft-top roof........
damn.......
So, now I got my c63..
Im thinking if I should get the aftermarket alarm system w/ remote starter even tho it's not soft-top roof..
I don want someone does smth bad on my car!!
How's factory alarm thing n mbrace stuff?
Is it good as much as aftermarket alarm?
Is it also activated n gonna let me know when someone trys to do smth on my car such as taking off the rims, braking the windows or smth like that..?
Aftermarket alarm system w/ remote starter is around 1700 bucks for everything include labor..
But mbrace is 660 buck for the part according to the website n 300 for life time contract.. N some more bucks for labor, I guess?
So what's ur call?
I have no experience w/ mbrace..
so if there is someone.. would u guys let me know?

wow that totally sucks.
at least he didn't do any body damage and need to get a repaint--more than I can say for the foockers who keyed my BMW years ago!
unfortunately I don't know too much about our stock alarms.
knock on wood, I've never had any of my cars broken into, but I typically don't leave them any place too vulnerable.
My garage at home is completely wired for security like the rest of the house and pretty impossible to get into without setting off the alarm.
I know this is not always possible for everyone living in condos and apartments in the city.
I still remember years ago seeing an S4 missing its Xenons at the movie theater near Fenway.
The thieves folded back the points of the front fenders and opened the hood like a can opener and took the Xenons--I'm guessing at least $5-7K in damage for some lights-ouch.
I heard somewhere that Acura's and Audi's get targeted for some of this stuff because the parts can be put into Hondas and VWs interchangeably.
Good luck, I'd get the best alarm you can and invest in a pistol, so next time you're not just holding you **** when you encounter one of these scumbags

thaz why I got the aftermarket alarm..
this time.. it saved ma ***.. but.. the roof was still ripped off..
Isn't it crazy?!

dude you got to find better places to hang out if you're going to drive nice cars--Dorchester--enough said
one of my buddies told me that shaddy body shops buy these Xenons, etc. sometimes too and they bill the customer (or the insurance) for new ones.
Either way, that totally sucks--I think you should find greener pastures to live and play in
maybe you can get a huge dog and keep it in the car at night
can dogs be litter trained?

I know that the option that I am about to give you might not pertain to what you are looking for but if I was you I would just do a extra coverage with the insurance company to cover exceptional items like a stereo or expensive rims etc, in the long run it might save you money.
I am absolutely not putting an alarm in my C63. My car sleeps in the garage. i f I ever do something it would be a motion sensor monitor(a couple of them) and install a loud 140-150db horn to make your ear drums bleed.

It is only a few extra dollars and it is a peace of mind. You can always customize it and ultimately just remove the coverage whenever you sell or trade the car. Installing an alarm can be expensive and if you ever trade the car or sell the car or get into an accident you don't get that money/investment back.

Dont park in Dorchester.
I put tilt sensors on each wheel and 2 air horns on my evo not to mention the crazy wheel locks for my last alarm because they be jack'n wheels in my lot like crazy. From the research I've done - Compustar is the way to go.

The first way of defense is always hide the car in a car garage. You can also do a GPS tracker/transponder but that is typically after the car is stolen for the police to go and grab it. Don't jump into the alarm yet, look into the motion sensors, they are cheap and efective.

hmm.. thatz pretty good idea..
Actually, Ive seen a motor-bike that is parking in the garage of ma apt.. n whenever i come near it.. the alarm turns on.. wasn't really loud..
but.. I was curious how it worked..
now I relize it was kinda that thing..
hmm..
So I guess it can be customized..
when only I just turned off my car.. it activate.. smth like that.. right?
need to find the shop for that near boston..
any info?
N about the rims..
during the winter.. don really need to worry about it..
but.. when the weather is warm.. will get new rims..
So.. tilt stuff?
how would it work?
