Mixing winter tires?

I ran Dunlop winter 3 d 225 40 18 last year. My rears need replacing but everywhere sold out of the Dunlop in the same size. I was wondering what other brand would be comparable to mix with my dunlops.

Thanks

I just had one of those (but 245) blow up on me on the highway. So now im running 235/40/18 Michelin Alpin Pilots in the front and the 245/40/18 Dunlops in the back. The car drives even better now, but havent seen snow yet.

It'll look a little weird, but that's it.

The only problems that come up is if the tire fits the rim, or space. Unless you are driving a vehicle with a center differential.

I just called tirerack and they said that pilots alpin pa3 can't be mixed with any other winter tire because of specific tread patterns. Is that just b.s or what?

It is BS. As long as you have the same tires on the left and the right of a given axle, you're fine (and even that isn't 100% necessary).

k thanks I'm going to order then. So I'll be running dunlop 3 d's on the front and alpin pa3 on the back. 225 40 18 all the way around so I can rotate them.
