Winter setup review: Replika Wheels 107A with Michelin Pilot Alpin PA3

Hey guys,

I purchased these about a month ago and faced about 4 snow storms with them already so I thought I’d share my experience.

Replika 107A wheels: ~175$ CAD per wheel

R107A-88443+45 18X8 5x112mm 45 offset

These wheels are purposely made for Audi but fit the C63 (with 5mm spacers). I really like the design and they suit the C63 very well. Unknown weight (got them mounted with tires) but feel very light compared to stock. The price is simply unbeatable for the finish quality. The only downside I had was that the front brakes did not clear (by about 1mm on the outside) so I used the 5mm spacers I already had on both front and back. The car looks great (much better in person than on the pics below). Need to find MB centercaps the size of Audi's.

Verdict: Overall great wheel for a winter setup and the pricing is tough to beat. Just make sure you get spacers prior for the front (and back if you wish to).

Michelin pilot Alpin PA3 235-18-40 ~250$ CAD per tire

There was a 25cm snow storm the day after I installed them. I have read various reviews on them but let me tell you, they are incredible. The traction is great: I can park in deep snow with ice underneath and still get out fairly easily! Excellent on the highway and steep hills. This is my first winter in the C63 and I am very surprised how well the car handles, stops and accelerates with these on. Obviously you can’t floor the gas pedal in tight, snowy curves but the combination of tires and good traction control makes it very impressive on ice and snow.

Verdict: Would buy again any day and fully worth the price. Excellent traction in all conditions. Very little noise too.

Have a good winter and drive safe!

You drove the Michelens in the snow? I have the same tires and they are okay, but not great. Should have got blizzaks.

What width are you running? I drove the car in lots of snow, still it was dry fluffy snow, not the wet stuff, so less slippery. I haven't seen an official side by side comparison on tire rack, so I don't know how they compare.

Personnally I don't see how a 4000lbs RWD car could do much better in the snow than at the moment, having no issues whatsoever. Maybe because I was expecting the car to do far worst.

thanks, did that yesterday. I actually blacked out the 2 mid grills only and will keep everything as it is. Waiting on my new MB emblem, got my old one stolen and the dealer gave me the wrong one as a replacement...

Running 255s all the way around. I took it out of the driveway today and got stuck but put it back right after. Have to take it for a nice drive to get a real feel for the tires.

Can I ask why 255s? That's really wide for snow...

Thats what it said to run for snow in the manual. Stock is 285 and I didnt want to go to skinny.

The manual probably assumes you run stock wheels in the winter so that makes sense, however 255 is really wide. tire rack suggests 225 for our car and I'm running 235 which I felt made more sense.

That being said, traction on 255s will be limited in the snow.
