Have u guys had this prbm?

I suddenly found out there was some weird sound near tires when I moved my car..

Finally I found out it was from break pad n rotors..
Even tho I didn't step on the break pedal.. the car was stopped while it was on 'D' not 'P' or 'N'..

when I hit the gas.. I don't hear anything.. Im not sure it's because of the sound from muffler or not.. but.. when I move slowly.. I hear some sound like smth is ground.....

So I made an appointment at the dealer shop on monday!! ;(

Have u guys had any this kinda situation?!

If I wash our C63 and then let it sit for a day, a layer of rust will build up on the rotors, which will make a grinding sound when I back out of the drive the 1st time...... after the 1st good 60-20 braking event this condition is wiped out.

Does it go away after a short drive with some good braking?

+1, happens every time I wash...In fact, if it sits for more than a few days, it will actually be stuck and car won't go anywhere, either in D or R without a fair amount of gas. Then the rotors grind for a bit, then all the rust is wiped off...

Oh.. so u guys r saying that it sounds from rust on rotor?
hmm..
actually I washed my car almost a week ago.. then I had parked for a few days then drove..
I didn't feel anything at first driving after that..
but yesterday.. it was 2nd driving..
on first driving.. I drove 80 miles.. then parked over night.. then drove again..

Hmm..
Rust..
Thx anyway.. n will figure out on Monday.. lol
But.. Im wondering.....
Should I leave the car til monday? or I should drive n some good break for getting rid of rust....

Dr. Q,

It seems like what you are experiencing is normal. Even when the car sits for a period of time, especially in cold weather, it will make some strange noises for a little while. However, if the noise is constant, you might have a problem, yet not a serious one at that.

Just a reminder to everyone, in cold weather it may be wise to let your engine run till its warm before driving from a cold start. That way you don't experience weird noises. lol

Mine did that once. The noise sounded pretty bad. The parking brake was slightly on. I reset the parking brake and the noise went away. I must have hit the parking brake pedal slightly by accident.

That's what i felt exactly!! So i hit the parking brake n released it.. But the sound was still.......

Is there any specific way that i can reset parking brake instead of just hitting n releasing it..

Maybe try doing it a few times. It's cable actuated so try going deep and releasing it quickly. This is assuming the noise is coming from one of your rear wheels.

Either way, if the noise didn't go away with one parking brake release, you probably should go to the dealer anyway.

Think they might be referring to the parking brake. There are brake shoes (not pads) that act when you push on the parking brake. They are inside the rotor hat and the inside of the hat is the friction surface that they apply against on the rear rotors. Get some other pricing from another dealer or an Indy shop. GL

Would that not be covered under warranty.. rotors and pads are obviously not, but the mechanism itself should be, unless of course you have driven the vehicle to the point that the mileage is beyond the warranty.
