Hey Guys!

I'm on the verge of buying a C63 and I've found a couple that I have been looking at. I just wanted to know the main difference that is associated with the COMMAND system from 2009 to 2010. Is it upgradable? Could somebody please point out the major differences and also is the multimedia interface (the one that does bluetooth streaming and Pandora streaming) compatible in the 2010??

I am not aware of any differences between 2009 and 2010 command system. The MIP works on both 2009 and 2010.

I think there is a difference between early and late model year 2009 units. My 2009 does not have nav traffic or ipod integration into the COMAND unit. I have to use the display on my instrument cluster to use the ipod.

The 2010 headunits allow for the Ipod songs to be shown on the display. They also come with Ipod chargers that can actually charge your iphones. There is live traffic with the 2010 and above headunits. In order to live stream your music via bluetooth, I believe you would have to buy a device (not exactly sure what it is) MIP or something like that. You should PM member "Yuille" as he has done it to his car.

I stand corrected. You are correct that the IPOD interface is better on the 2010 model but with MIP you can get the same as the 2010. The delaer can easily change the IPOD charger wire for no charge.

So then you can control the iPod via the COMMAND screen on an '09 with the MIP?

Also the 2010 COMAND has a compass, tells you elevation, gives you grid coordinates, and steering angle. Also Sirius Traffic is there also, which can be quite helpful in congested area. Other than that, there quite the same. Personally, I would go with the newest car available as they always have the latest technology. I see that you hae a S63 already, and you want to add its stable mate. We are alike then that regard, as I have a E63 and C63.

I have been very satisified with my 2010 C63 and the COMAND so far. How many of you use your PCMCIA slot and SD card to play music in your C63? I find it hard to choose between the C63 or my E63. But one choice makes it easy, since the C63 has more options to choose from for music i.e. SD Card, FM radio, Sirius XM, CD, DVD, iPod, Pandora

I use the PCMCIA slot with a CF+CF Adapter card, works perfectly fine.

Iforgot about the DVD and iPod.
I just have so many more choices in the C63 over my E63.
Don't get me wrong I love my E63.

The Mercedes compatibility chart says W204 MY09-11, with option package 518, which is the iPod integration kit. Call your local dealership if you are unsure about my advise!

When the MIP first came out it said MY09-11, with option package 518; I swear. Now it has changed to My10-11. Well I guess that I can stop telling people MY09. Well that answers that question. If you want the MIP get a 2010-2011 C63

Thanks for all your help guys! I've been looking for a C63 for about 2 months now and I can't find "the one". My dealership that I've been working with that I've purchased a few cars from is trying to help me out but they keep saying that there is no difference whatsoever between the 2009 and the 2010 and I disagree. I just can't believe the prices that dealerships are asking for a used 2010! I'm going to continue my search as much as I can until I get burned out!

I have an appointment with the dealer to upgrade my mbrace for my 09. Can you confirm that changing the ipod charger wire is free?

I sent an email to MBUSA asking if an 09 C63 can get the MIP.. She said if I have the AUX and IPOD cable it'll work.. I have the IPOD cable, but the AUX plug was hidden and I had to open the side of the glovebox to get to it.. I'm not sure if that's considered as "having" it. I didn't mention it to her, I didn't wanna get in trouble (lol) but it hindsight I should've. Any chance I could get in trouble for that? I mean we are dealing with the big and bad MBUSA.. I'll give em a call a little bit later..

Don't worry, as far as I know you only need the iPod cable for the install and function.
