C63 in the hills
Couldn't sleep one night so I made these videos on my computer.
Video 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-tfNpCYecV0
Brakes overheated. Oil (135c+) overheated. Locked into C-mode. Time to cool down.
Video 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NEet4ke0Du8
Down shift paddle locked for some reason. Wouldn't allow down-shifts. Later found the paddle to be faulty, back to functioning now (was just forced and eventually started working :S)
Some corners down-shifted into 2nd unnecessarily, but that's what you get without a navigator.
Kinda think it's time to sell the C63, buy a sports car.

great videos--it sounds just like the real thing
Night time driving like that always leaves me a little "too much" on edge.
I much prefer daylight so I can take in my surroundings better and see farther ahead.
I'm always afraid a deer (or a kangaroo in your case) is going to dart out in front of me.
I've actually missed a couple deer in my life on the highways, maybe that's why.
I could also not drive like that with a passenger, too distracting for me and I'd feel aweful if I wrecked with someone in the car.
Anyway, nice vids, glad you just ended up with a busted paddle shifter

Cool vids.
I know you mentioned in your OP that you experienced some issues. What stands out the most about the C63 that makes you want a sports car? What kind of car would you be interested for your style of driving? And, what do you find impressive about the C63 when you're driving in the hills?
Just really curious because I can tell you really like to drive the C63 in a spirited manner.

Also, night time you can see headlights coming. Day time if you cut, you're ****ed.
Unsure. Something low. Something powerful. Something light. Any suggestions?
Track driving is a lot different. A lot smoother and a lot more time for a car to cool down. It's not throttle, brake, throttle, brake, throttle, brake all within 10 seconds. Your only on the brakes 10 times a lap, and throttle 10 times a lap. With cooling power increasing with speed on straights as you get faster and faster.

Brakes too - You can tell they are comfort "street" pads. Fair enough given MB buyer demographic.
Weight - It handles its weight great, but it would benefit greatly from being lighter.
It's a very impressive car for what it is (don't forget, we have heated electric seats, all nice things etc). But as far as being a "sports" car, for what I want, it lacks "chuck-a-bility". I had an Evo before this and although I think the C63 is a bit quicker in the twisty stuff, the Evo had that chuck-a-bility so you could throw it into anything.
Overall, seriously, it handles itself great. I just want more (refer above about light, low, loud etc). I might have to build myself a rally car....

Thanks for the vids. Nice pavement compared to most secondary roads around here. All frost heaves and patches here. More residences too so it is best to keep it reigned in a bit.
The C63 may not be a sports car exactly but it is easier to get the best out of and always a willing participant. It is the big torque, always on tap that makes it a very willing performer and an enjoyment to drive. If you have to use a lot of revs to get the best out of a car it can make it difficult on the street.

Darn it I knew I should have bought a C63. I dont have any roads like that anywhere near me though. I would love to have my bike on that road. I guess I need to move to Australia.
Awesome Vid.

100% standard car except non-standard (yet still street) tyres and tune.
The car in the videos is white.
