Purchase Advice - 40,000 Miles a Problem?

I'm looking to purchase a C63 that will serve as a weekend car. Though I will not be putting many miles on a car myself, the vehicle I am looking to purchase has about 40k miles. It is CPO'd and priced in the mid-$40's but I'm worried about two things:

1) Will the high miles be a problem if I want to trade in a few years (assuming it has 50k miles at that time)?

2) To those with 40k+ miles, have you noticed the car feeling older or more "loose" in the drive, steering, etc compared to the vehicle when new?

These cars are made to be driven. 40k isn't an issue, but warranty is. You're out of factory warranty already and into the 1yr CPO warranty, and you don't want to be paying for repairs. Consider a supplemental warranty.

Also, you're not going to hear anything but rave reviews of this car in this forum...the C63 guys tend to be...well, passionate about their cars. If anyone says their car has 40k miles and feels sloppy, I'd be shocked.

What year? Mid 40's for 40K miles seems high. How many owners? Off lease?

No doubt, to many miles for that price.

It all depends....
Have they been well taken care of/well maintained 40k miles?
OR
Abused 40k miles?

I would rather have a car with 30-40k well taken care of miles then a car with 10k abused miles.

your mom
i had an experience with a similar car at a dealership.. and they were willing to let go at 45k.. but without CPOing the car.

Apparently it would need abt 4 grand just to CPO at that level.

It is off-lease. I was told that it just had all 4 brakes done as well as the transmission service.

My other option is a $51k CPO 2008 with 13k miles. Great miles but I'm afraid it's overpriced. Thoughts?

Both cars overpriced in my opinion. You can get a 2010 new for that price if you can find one.

I would hunt around for a 2010 if your willing to shell out 50+.

Miles arent an issue if its well cared for. You will be able to tell once you see it in person. $51K for an 08 with 13K miles is a little high in my opinion. I just picked up a 2010 never titled with 1K miles for a few K more than that. So the deals are out there, just need to be diligent and act fast Good luck with the search...

Thanks for all of the good info. I would like to buy from a Merc dealer - doesn't necessarily mean I am getting a better product but I'll worry less.

Any thoughts on that loose feel some older cars develop? Hasn't been my experience with other German (BMW, Porsche, VW) cars but this would be my first Merc.

Good advice. 40,000miles wouldn't scare me off but the price with those miles would. Very capable car the C63 with a great exhaust note.
