Question about dealer ECU re-flash
If a car with headers and no cats gets it's ECU re-flashed back to
stock by the dealer, will a CEL be triggered for no catalytic converters?
I had Service A done about two weeks ago and I never looked at
my paperwork until today and it says the following:
"Perform an electronic vehicle master inquiry using Mercedes-Benz
Netstar. Perform all required service campaigns and computer software
updates as required by the manufacturer."
To me, the wording in the above paragraph sounds like a re-flash
but the car feels as strong as ever and I would think a CEL would
be triggered for no catalysts if it was re-flashed.
They know I have headers and a tune and I always tell them not
to touch my ECU anyway.
Any opinions?

Correct me if I am wrong here. but Netstar cant do a full re-flash.
They have to do all updates they receive from Mercedes, there is no way they wont do an ECU update if mercedes tells them to. my guess if you insist you might just be asking for a void. I know they 2010's in C, CL and sls's have a transmission update that just came out. also as soon as they do any updates the car will revert back to learning mode. hoon it again for 2 days or so.. not sure what the mile marker is but it will come back to life.

It looks to me like they just did the updates and service campaigns and did not do a full re-flash. Your Eurocharged tune should still be fine and no CEL unless the updates changed something in the tune that Eurocharged modified. If you are getting your re-tune/live-tune be sure to tell Jerry so he can make sure your tune is still fully intact. It is possible that they did perform the inquiry but no service campaigns or software updates were required or scheduled by MB.
I am not sure on the difference between Star Diagnostics and Netstar but it is possible Netstar can only do Service Campaigns and Software Updates and cannot perform a full re-flash.

I'm thinking my ECU is still good, no CEL for two weeks now and car still
feels strong. I would think a CEL would have been triggered for cat delete
by now.

You're probably fine at this point, but I would have been very nervous initially that you would run too lean and risk blowing a piston. I would probably still have it reflashed with your header file just to be 100% sure.

Just wanted to update my situation. A CEL was triggered today, looks
like the delaer did flash my ECU back to stock. It took about a month
before a CEL was triggered, granted I only put about 400 miles since
service A was done and most of those miles were city commuting.
My ECU will be going back to Eurocharged for a re-flash.

Well, it is idling a little rougher than before I went in for
service. I haven't really done much driving in the last
month(400 miles)and no wot runs because the weather
has been so crappy.
It's strange that a CEL took this long to come up for no cats.
Better to be safe than sorry. Jerry will know once he gets
the ECU back.

I recently got Service A done, and my car is definitely idling rougher since. Got me wondering, if they reflashed my car. Still feels as powerful as before. Wish there was a way for us to tell without pulling the ECU, and sending it out.
Im also told the rougher idle may be attributed to the tech over filling the oil. My cars been back in the garage at my other place, since winter decided to come back, and bless us with snow, so I havent had the chance to check that. I also keep getting the CEL for code P0455, emissions. Replaced the gas cap, and purge valve.

My service paperwork was worded as follows:
They have to put exactly what they did on the paperwork. Check
your service records. I may stop at the dealership before sending
the ECU to Jerry and have them read the code.
I just can't get over the fact that it took about a month for a CEL
to pop up for no cats. I would think a few days and bam(CEL).
And don't get me started about the snow.

Wish they could just fix this damn emissions issue. tired of seeing the CEL light, and really tired of taking it to them to fix. I dont trust the techs for ***** when they take 4 mile test drives for a gas cap replacement.
Maybe the code is something unrelated to your headers, 02 sensors. Maybe you too have this dreadful gas cap, purge valve issue.
Petro, what dealer do you use? I go to Globe in Fairfield. this is were i bought all my cars.

Yeah, my paperwork says nothing about ECU, coding, software, etc..

I already had a CEL for a bad purge valve about a month after I
bought the car. I already checked the gas cap.
I use Benzel-Busch in Englewood, a friend of mine is a service advisor
there. I may drop by later today so they can scan the code.
I have a few days before I send the ECU to Jerry, he's going to the
Texas mile and won't be back until Monday.

Well, i checked my oil today. Found the reason for the rough idle afetr service A. Dealer overfilled the oil by more than a quart. . Sucked it out with my MitiVac, and the idle is back to normal. Cant believe the techs can do this, and give the car back. than if seals start to blow, etc. They'll be quick to blame us.
Petro, have them check as this may be the cause of your idle roughness.
Everyone CHECK YOUR OIL LEVEL AFTER SERVICE A!

Update!
Just got the call from the dealer.
Oxygen sensors are bad. Technician says it's tune related.
They also claim the ECU was not flashed when the car was in for
Service A last month.
