You beat me to it in creating this thread. I however unfortunately feel that it indeed is exactly as bad as it is in the news
Best of wishes to everyone over there

Well, I just talked to my friends over there and its bad. Power outages, dead stop traffic and I have been watching tv and 2 nuclear reactors are in the red!!!! I vacation in Matsushima, which is right there where the major chaos is. Everything is right on the coast in that area.

I guess the only good thing is that it is a mountainous area along the coast, so the water will not go to far inland.

America is sending a ton of aide to the situation cause Japan is the worlds third largest economy. Cant wait to see what this does to the stock market.

Presidential news conference just came on. Signing off for now.

8.9 is not a pretty sight, especially when tsunami follows the earthquake to Japan. God bless.

According to BBC some waves have hit California (although around 3 ft tall). Have you guys witnessed anything?

Mother nature could be so unpredictable. The worst earthquake in 1200 years for Japan. Hope for a speedy recovery.

It's after shock from the earthquake, and don't be surprise if there's another one (probably minor, <=4.5).

This is got to be twice as worst as the Hurricane Katrina disaster in New Orleans.

Yeah, but their government won't wait a week before they step up
And I bet they'll rebuild faster, the Japanese have one of the best work ethics and they get $h!t done.

As others have stated, nature can be brutal at times. My thoughts and prayers are with all the people in Japan that were impacted by this.
