OS Giken LSD requires modifications on rear diff?
Hello.
I have heard that OS Giken LSD requires some machine work to make it fit into C63 differential.
Is this true?
Or does it fit into our differential housing without any modifications(just like Quaife LSD)?
TIA!

Yes, you are correct. The dif housing must be ground down in areas for fitment of OS Giken. An amazing road race dif. The Quaife QDF9V fits right in, no grinding needed. Great performance and cheaper.

Quaife is a lot easier and way more cost effective. We have been selling the Quaife for $950.00, you can't really beat that price.

Can anyone give me more details about where it needs to be machined?
Can this be easily done by local machine shop?
Sending the diff unit to Renntech is not my option since I live over-sea.

Here is a good article that explains how different the OS Giken is.
http://www.motoiq.com/MagazineArticl...ferential.aspx
Also here is quote from another driver (on another forum)
"I have had both, the Quaife is a good budget solution, but the OS Giken is in a different league as you get all the benefits of a clutch type diff with ultra smooth locking, NO clunking at all and no noticable understeer - it costs a fair bit more than the Quaife though as you need to purchase a fitting kit."
Also regarding the housing, if you have a good shop they'll install and make the custom fitting for about 400-500$ total. Not too bad.

Any back-to-back comparos or lap times or 1/4 mile runs to quantify?

So you mean Quaife(or OEM LSD, gear type LSD) had no significant advantage on lap time, vs open diff?

What i meant is no lsd<quaife<os giken with about the same difference between each one. so for example the os giken would be 5 secs faster than quaife and 10 seconds faster than without an lsd
