Service B0 - what kind of transmission oil do I need?
My car hit 120'000km the other day and is service B0 is due.
I called my dealership and they told that I need to change the engine oil, filters (as usual) and transmission oil. Does anyone know what transmission oil our cars use?
Thanks,
Matt

The Owners Manual that comes with Australian delivered cars - and I suspect would apply to all regardless of location - refers to a website called Mercedes-Benz Specifications for Service Products (http://bevo.daimler.com).
I had a quick look and it did not seem all that user friendly. Sheet 231.0 seems to give an overview for "Gear Oils" but it is a little hard to follow and lots of references to engine codes that I have not seen before.
You might be best off just asking the dealer

The Owners Manual is pretty useless. It provides the specs for engine oil and coolant only - no mention of transmission/diff oils or brands etc. The website lists loads of brands of lubricants/fluids that meet the various MB specs. The trick seems to be working out what spec applies to any given model in the MB range ie it does not list by model

It is either Mercedes or Febi fluid. Spec is 236.14. I do not know of any others.
FYI you have to fill this from underneath with a pump through the drain hole. It also is set at 113 degrees F and by the stream coming out of the drain hole at this temperature.

Look for my previous question about this in another thread I started (or was involved in)... Doing the transmission fluid diy style does not seem worth it and is a real pain in the ***.. Best do everything else and let the dealer do the tranny fluid.

I want my local shop to do it cuz I my dealership pissed me off and wanted to know which tranny oil I should get. I figured out that I'll just order the parts by giving my VIN at another MB dealership
