Need advice on purchasing C63! Quick!
Hello,
Been lurking the boards for a few weeks now since i began browsing for a C63. At first i was in the market for a C350, almost pulled the trigger the very same day i walked into the dealership with intentions only to browse and luckily i didn't. Went home and just browsed for the heck of it and there it was! A CPO C63 for more or less than the C350. I've always wanted an AMG since the ML55, but for some reason i had a brain fart and didn't think of the C63 initially. Well here i am. I found a C63 with the following options:
2009 C63
Mileage: 22,258
Exterior Color: Iridium Silver
Interior: Black
Optional eqpmt: P02 package, Amg Seating PKG, Multimedia PKG, Ipod Integration Kit, Tele Aid System.
From the pictures it seems like an excellent condition. I have yet to see it in person as it is 100mi away from me.
The asking Price is $49,900. Called the dealer and they said they can go down to $48k. Does that sound like a fair price or should i try to bargain for lower.
Also, the sales rep i spoke to called me today and told me that these performance cars are seasonal and that it will be sent to auction at the end of the month. Is there any truth to this? To me it sounds like BS since when are these cars "seasonal". Besides, it was a mistake on my part that i mentioned i wanted to purchase the car after May 4th after my boards and i believe he is just working that angle.
If all goes well i'll be purchasing the car in a couple of weeks. I just want to focus on my exam first!
So guys, any suggestions, comments, opinions would be very much appreciated.

Very similar to my car which had 7800 miles and only paid a few thousand more in 01/2010 when I bought it. So, that sounds too high!! Keep talking with them and I bet they would come down to around $45k..ish! Good luck!

I went through the exact same thought process and I pulled the trigger on almost the exact same car at the end of last year.
2009 C63
Mileage: High 19 K
Steel Grey and all options except the performance package.
The dealer had it listed for 52,900 and I brought them all the way down to $48,500 and that is what I paid. You might be able to ask them to go a little lower or throw some all season mats or something to sweeten the deal, but that seems about the right price.
Hope this helps.

Ok, i was thinking that the price should be a little lower.
With the new 2012's coming soon within 4 months or so. Would it be wiser to wait it out and just get a new 2011? How much do you guys think a new 2011 (or maybe 2010 if there are any available) will be when 2012 hit the floor? if the price difference is within $10k then i think it's worth waiting a few months. What do you guys think?

I also went through the same thing about year and half ago. 2009 Met Black 8k mi CPO all options except P30. Ask was $57.5K worked them down to $52K. I had six dealers working at the same time and this was the best I could do. It's almost two years later so mid to high $40k sounds about right. I think the "it's going to auction" is a bluff to make you move. Besides they would not put a CPO car to auction they have too much in cost to get it to CPO to auction if off.

Excellent point.
Some dealers may send a car to auction if it's been sitting on the lot more than 90 days, but if they've done the work to CPO it then I doubt that's gonna happen. And if it's any "season" -- April is car season! If we were going into winter I could see the need to unload it. But traditionally, demand increases in the spring.
Just my .01
Bottom line, it's a C63! You can't go wrong.....

2009 C63 AMG
Almost two months ago I paid 49k for my 2009 C63 CPO with 25k on it. It has the same options as yours with the addition of the 174mph limiter and an LSD. It was Palladium which I really like and in excellent condition. They gave me what I wanted on my trade as well, so in the end I felt I got a good deal.
At this price point, a couple of grand isn't all that noticeable so go with your gut. All my haggling plans went out the window after I jabbed the throttle a few times and went sideways around a couple of corners.

Two weeks ago, I found a 2011 C63 with the color and options I wanted. list was $72.6K. offered $63K, ignored the BS from the salesperson, drove off with car for $64K (plus tax/license). $8600 off list, $3600 below invoice. (includes a $2K conquest cash rebate from MB for owning a lexus - or bmw/audi/etc).
You can wait til july or september when the new C63 comes out, to bargain, or just remind the salesperson that if he won't deal, you'll call back in sept.
Offer the guy $42K, then you will find out how low he will go. (of course, check out and test drive the actual car before buying).
The C63 is an awesome car. You will love it. but you still need to get a good deal. (need money for mods!)
To get a good deal, though, you have to hide your grin when you test drive it. shop around other dealers stock, and look at new 2011s. most dealers are trying to dump their 2011s (as well as older ones).
BTW I had a brain fart when i signed up here .. I have a 2011 C63 AMG steel grey/black leather.

I paid $50K for my '09 CPO'd with 7000 miles. If I were you, I would push, push, push! I don't think there's any appreciable difference between an '09 and an '11 (save mileage) so if you can get the number between $44-$46k, I can't imagine them letting you walk.
You are going to LOVE this car - remain vigilant and I am sure you'll get the price you want.

If you wait too long to make your decision, you will miss out. If you like that car then get it, you may save some money in the loong run, then again you may not. Just be prepared to buy new rear tires in six months, and enjoy the car. That my .02 cents.

On that note, according the he AMG site where i specd my ideal car, without destination and gas tax a total of $74k, about how much am i looking at realistically from the dealer? Another member on here got a 2010 MSRP'ed at $72k for $57k. I'm guessing maybe i can pull off ~$60k-$62k. What do you guys think?
I really want to say thank you for all the replies from everyone. Hearing other opinions definitely helps to put mine in perspective. Thanks for the guidance in helping me make the best informed decision i can!

well, can't keep myself from looking LOL. What do you guys think of this deal?
Dealer wants $61k.
http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail...5&aff=national
Or this one for $48k
http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail...5&aff=national
Is 1 yr and 8000miles and keyless go worth $13k? What do you guys think? The dealers are very stubborn and down want to go any lower!

I wouldn't buy either of them. The 2010 does not appear to have NAV and has standard leatherette cloth seats. The 2009 also does not appear to have NAV. You can have a small factory Nav added in place of the stock AM/FM but it's kinda funky. Wait, more of them will come up. If you buy a CPO car make sure the tires are within CPO spec.

FWIW I got my 2009 with 7000 miles for $50K before trade-in...the 2009 you're looking at has 22K...I'd say you talk him down a couple more grand.
If they want to play hardball, walk - I am confident they'll work with you. With the 2012's looming on the horizon, they do not want these cars sitting on their lots.

The dealer detailed descriptions are confusing. If you can confirm full leather and Nav I'd get the 2010. The 2010 has a seven speed and the IPOD interface shows up on the Nav screen.

I still think $61K is too much, however.

I've spoken to both. The description on cars.com is a bit off of what both really have.
The 2009 has - leather, multimedia, lighting, wood trim
The 2010 has - leather multimedia, lighting , wood trim, and keyless go.
Neither of them are willing to budge. The dealer of the 2009 insists that they can get $48k or more once they send the car to auction. I'm gonna go ahead and call their bluff on this. They claim to be sending it to get auctioned off at the end of the month. If the 2010 dipped anywhere in the 50's i would bite, but they're being stubborn as well. I really want a car, but i don't want to be overpaying either.

$60K is WAY too high for a 2010. Talking with local dealers(in Chicago) I had them down to around $62/63K for a Brand NEW 2011. Additionally, as many have mentioned before, with the 2012s coming out soon, there may be Trunk Cash for the 2011s making them even cheaper.
In the ChicagoLand area 2009s are going for anywhere from $52-57k, but that doesn't mean they are selling, and they aren't. However, the MY09s that are being listed in the $47-49k range are selling after only being on the market for a few days to weeks here.
The two 2010s around here are listed for $58k and $60k FYI.
As far as getting $48k at auction, I've had multiple dealers tell me this BS as well. I even had a dealer show me the manheim auction prices on C63s back in Feb. and they were going for $43-$45K if that means anything.

A quick search on autotrader only shows 5 MY09 across the U.S. under $48k, one of them has 55k miles, and I don't think any of them are CPO.
If they auctioned off the car the CPO Warranty wouldn't carry over to the next dealer would it? Then what the heck would be the point of auctioning it off?
