Pulled the trigger - A big hello from Oz

Hi everyone, great forum btw...

Have been lurking on here for a few months now reading about everyones c63 experiences with a hint of jealousy! Fortunately my time has come and I'm due to take delivery of a 2011 63 in iridium silver this coming Tuesday
I don't normally like to post but I'm so frickin excited I had to share

I've been lusting after this motor for the last 2 years after hearing the exhaust note for the first time. Since arriving in oz I have really fallen for the whole 'muscle car' thing and reckon mercedes have it pretty right with the 63.

So it's bye bye 6.0L ute and hello 6.2L sedan!

Any c63 owners in Brisbane on here? If so have any of you made it out to ipswich race way?

Anyhow, enough of my rambling, just thought I'd say hi

Not sure if I've used enough smilies

Well congratulations my Aussie friend. Enjoy it, but be prepared to replace the rear tires in six months. That's the drawback of having 457 hp in your right foot.

Thanks for the welcome guys.

The potential tyre consumption sounds frightening! I knew they were bad but not quite that bad. My current car is only on it's second set of tyres at 36k kilometers and it's been driven hard!

Excuse my ignorance AMG-010 but what is powertorque? I see you have some mods done to yours too, did you get them done locally and has your local dealer given you any feedback regarding warrantee?

Sorry for all the questions

Thanks in advance

PowerCruise is a huge car show where you can go on the track and race other people for fun. http://www.powercruise.com/?site=brisbane
I took my M5 there last year and had a great time.
I bought most of my parts from the US and Germany personally and had them fitted locally.
I think as long as you understand that whatever you modify won't be covered eg. my coilover suspension etc. but the rest is fine

Congrats on new car.

I'm in Bris as well, although I have a porker ML63. Still keen to run it down Willowbank sometime.

Let us know when you're going. I think they run an open night on Wednesdays

Brave man dropping $160k+ for the car and $7/gal gas...makes the whiners here in the USA sound spoiled.

Enjoy your new toy, it's awesome.

Welcome from Sydney.
The tyre thing is not that bad unless you really go mad. Bigger concern is keeping away from the speeding fines - and you can guarantee the cops will love pulling over the guy in a C63!!
Be sure to open an account with www.tirerack.com and import tyres from the US. Even with shipping you are miles ahead so to speak on paying local prices.
Enjoy

Thanks VCA_AMG for the wake up call

Ah well you can't take it with you, only live once etc etc

Will definitely being taking it out to Willowbank once its properly run in. Had great fun out there in the ute. Only managed a best of 14.1 so looking forwards to the potential of a high 12.

Will let you guys know when I'm heading out and we'll see if we can get an impromptu AMG meet going. They run test and tunes every wednesday night over the winter and its $40 to run as much as you want.

Powertorque sound awesome AMG_010. A little frightened I'd end up binning it though. Have heard of too many colleagues overcooking it on track days and writing off brand spanking new motors that are uninsured due to being on track.

Will maybe try one of the AMG days that are run and get a taste of track driving in someone elses car!

Can't get over how well specced the aussie cars are as standard - reverse camera, Nappa, sunroof, H&K, upgraded wood interior (the only option I wouldn't have taken) etc etc - makes up a little for the eye watering price. Plus I managed to get (in my eyes at least) a pretty good deal as it the run out model.

JimmyR thanks for the link - will definitely look into it.

Thanks for the replies chaps.

Picked it up today.....

Two words - F@ck Me. I don't remember it being this good. (call me crazy but I didn't test drive it before buying - I'd driven one a year ago and thought I remembered how good it was. How. Wrong. Was. I.

So antisocial it's fun :-)
