Service A - Dealer used 5w-40
I noticed a slight increase in engine idle vibration after the oil change and was wondering what could have caused it. Asked the SA at the dealer what kind of oil was used and was told that they used Mobil 1 5w-40 Synthetic.
I was under the impression that we should use 0w-40 synthetic. Should I be concerned about this? Could this have led to the increased idle vibraton (I can feel it through the steering wheel and near the front fender area)?

Check your oil level to make sure it is not overfilled.
Our dealer here is using 5W40 as well. It is easier to stock one type for all cars and the diesels specify 5W40. They are now buying oil in bulk rather than by quarts in the case. It would be too difficult and expensive to buy bulk oil in more than one viscosity. So we lose the ability to choose as result. Sucks!
I suppose you could demand 0W40 (10W40 Typo) but they would have to bring it in special and likely charge through the nose for it. I think in Canada it was an MBCan decision more than the dealers.
I can't think of a reason that the 5W40 would cause more cold engine vibration than 0W40 but it could be possible. The C63 specifies Mobil 1 0W40 or 5W40 so either grade should be acceptable.

Thanks for the inputs. I'll check the oil level and operating temperature. From what I remember, the engine oil temperature didn't seem to be abnormally high. If there was an slight increase, it would be hard for me to notice it since I only remember the ballpark figures from the past.
Is there any advantage to using 0w-40 over 5w-40? Also, when I need to top off the oil in the future, can I use 0w-40 even though the engine currently has 5w-40?

All AMG engines use 5W-40. It is a blend developed for diesels for higher detergent levels. I am assuming AMG's use it to provide better lubrication at higher RPM's and make sure lifter's pump up all the way. It does take longer for the car to warm the oil up though and quit the lifter rattle. Another benefit is reduced oil consumption that happens with the 0W-40 blends that are used for fuel economy.

Both Mobil 1 0W-40 and 5W-40 are authorized MB approved oil for AMG.
Either one is fine, but I prefer 0W-40 myself.
5W-40 can operate down to -13 degrees, as where the 0W-40 can operate in temperatures below that.
0W-40 just offers a wider operating range then 5W-40, but both will work just fine.

I just checked the oil level after letting the car sit for over two hours. Here is what the dipstick looks like. Doesn't look like the oil was overfilled.
Shouldn't the oil level be closer to the second tab? Is this normal, or do I need to add some oil?
