I want them to fit OEM midpipe just cut and weld in the new ones.

Is there a reason why you want to keep the secondaries? MBH has straight pipes or x pipe to replace the secondaries.

if you get secondary hi flow cats, will it increase the volume of the car over stock, just as getting an x pipe does?

I try to help people as much as I can based on my own experiences. The 3" HFC are popular in cars like Evos, STI corettes etc. My last two cars C6 Z06 and Evo had HFC (100 cell) from the following sources and they were cheap too:

1) Milspec
2) LGmotorsports
