ESP Unavailable/Inoperable

I drive a 2009 C Class Luxury. The fault indicator light in the car is activated and the error message on the dash display is " ESP Unavailable and ESP Inoperable". However the brake still works but cruise control can not be activated as a result of this error.

I took the car of a diagnosis and the result was faulty Steering Angle Sensor, but a technician commented that Steering Angle Sensor has nothing to do with ESP.

Can anyone pls advise if the Steering angle sensor could really be the fault

just my common sense tells me that the steering angle sensor does play a role in the total ESP of the car. it would have to use a calculation from that sensor at some point. so if its out then i guess the car is just shutting down the ESP totally. makes sense if you think about it. get it fixed and see. good luck!

Wrong forum for a C300.. but..
Yes the Steering Angle Sensor is definitely related to traction control and cruise control.

Here's a thread in the W203 forum talking about it:
https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...le-sensor.html

I had the same symptoms, replaced mine (from a CLK320) and everything is fine now, no errors.
