Bye Bye 335i.. Hello..... ?
I am letting go of my E92 335i very soon, i'm having a hard time choosing my next car though
So far it's down to
C63 AMG
Audi S5
or a
E92 M3..
I know this is a MB forum so most people will say C63, but im hoping i won't get biased answers
Im selling the 335i because i just want something new and the funds allow for it as well
Im leaning more towards the C63 right now... i know its a beast and FBO 335i's can barely keep up, and a ecu flash makes those things move.. and it sounds beastly!!
I've considered the M3 but i feel after coming from a heavily modded 335i it just won't feel as fast. I know their strong points are top end, but i do not track my cars at all, just daily driven and a little bit of spirited driving. I don't have money to supercharge it either so that's not a option.
I loved the torque on my modded 335i, which is why i think im leaning more towards the C63.
Also the Audi S5 is very a good looking car inside and out, i know they are a little behind in terms of performance with the C63 and M3, but i'm wondering how mod friendly these cars are?
I have yet to test drive any of them, and i know thats the first thing i need to do, just wanted some opinions from MBworld members first

Not wanting to be biased but I sold my 335i and went with the C63...so what do you expect me to say?
Although my 335i was stock, and I am not so much into modding cars, I felt that the C63 gave the low end torque that I am used to with the 335i but also had the high end power that the 335i didn't have.
I also hated the soft rear suspension of the 335i...felt like that car would bottom out on the simplest of bumps.
The M3 I think would be too similar of a car, and also being a street only driver, you'd be missing its biggest point. Also, I am one of those people who think the E46 is still better than the E92. With a bit more power, I think the E46 can take the E92.

I was thinking on waiting for the new 2012's to come in a few months
Yes i was really never impressed with the M3 other than its exterior..
Im just curious to see how the C63 handles compare to a 335i (sport package)

My unbiased option for you will be to test drive them all then decide; but if you are looking for a coupe, then the new 2012 C63 coupe (or saden) is definitely worth a look.

My zwei Pfennig:
I test drove the M3 and the M5, and they sure were soft on the bottom end. I was not impressed... The M3 & M5 were built for high sustained top speeds, for the Autobahn.
Due to the superior low end torque of the C63, the C63 can be enjoyed in the speed limited USA.
The S5 is beautiful, but its no C63 or M3. I just can't get over the VW connection with Audi...
The only other German car I considered besides the C63, M3 and S5 was the new 335is w/the 330 plus horses, more torque (up to 370#/ft) and the standard new performance exhaust. That's the best BMW for the USA, IMHO. If you are a Bimmer guy, that's the car I'd get, even over the M3, but only if I lived outside of Germany...
Cheers

2012 C63 AMG edition 1
M3s and 335i's are everywhere here in NY. C63's are far more rare and get alot more respect. I dont own one, but if I was to get an entry level "performance sedan", the C would be my only choice. But wait until 2012 for the NICE interior, the current one sucks!

I don't think the RS5 is even in the price range you might be considering.
The RS5 will be one of, if not the best performer in the Audi line up.
You are looking close to $90K for the RS5 I believe, from when I spoke to the dealer last week...

I came from a modded 335 as well and considered the same cars. Drove both the M3 and S5 and was not impressed. The C63 is a whole other beast, especially tuned. The rawness and aggression of the motor is on another level. Just get used to getting 12-13mpg in the city and 18-20mpg max on the highway. The 335 does get significantly better gas mileage. I do miss that some as filling up all the time can get to be annoying but the second you put your foot down you will forget about that. Also, be prepared to go through rear tires ever 4-5k miles. This thing eats tires for lunch!

There was a recent episode of Top Gear, where Jeremy drove the S5 or RS5, and it handled terribly on the corners, massive oversteer. The thing just wanted to go straight in the corners. Audi has always mounted there engines forward of the front axles, thereby having alot of weight hanging out front. I would drive the Audi first and push it hard, before buying. We can all tell you that the C63 is awesome, no decision making needed with this purchase.

lol @ you posting this EXACT same thread on e90post. But anyway I traded my e90 335i for a C63 and the only thing I like less about the MB than the BM is the ride comfort isn't as good. But everything else is

I came from an RS4 and while the engine is great, it is underpowered. The RS5 will have the same engine as the RS4 plus a better intake system which will give it an extra 30HP. Still underpowered if you ask me. And then don't forget you'll need to do a full carbon cleanup every 20,000 km's or else you'll start getting misfires and you'll be seriously down on power!

Much like most of the ex-335i owners here I was looking at the M3 vs. C63 as well. Ultimately I went with the C63 over the M3, because I didn't like that the M3 interior was practically the same as my 335i. Didn't see a real upgrade there. Plus I felt the sound of the C63 was by far better than the M3.

lol. I'm seeing a trend starting. I traded in my '07 335i for a C63 and pretty much agree 100% with everything that has been said so far. The better gas mileage was a plus with the 335i, but you will get over it. The softer ride was kind of nice to, but you'll get over it pretty quickly.
