LED Lights and Brabus Tail Lights
Not sure if I should have posted this on an existing thread, but anyways, please check my pics out in my garage. I installed the Piecha LED lights and also had the body shop paint the Brabus lines on the tail lights. Let me know what you all think.
If you own a Canadian vehicle like mine, the mandatory Daytime Running Lights is an issue with installing the LEDs. These LEDs operate at full brightness during the day, and at reduced brightness at night. The problem with the Canadian models is that they always have the headlights on. Very irritating. So no matter what time of the day, the LEDs will always be in reduced mode. And on a sunny day, you want them bright, even if your daytime running lights (headlights) are on. Thankfully, I used the most competent shop around and they installed a toggle switch under my steering column which allows me to manually control the brightness. Very happy with that. Anyways, if anyone has any Qs, feel free to msg me. I'm very happy with the tail lights too.

I have the same lights, you can connect the blue cable to the parking lights. When your parking lights are off, LEDs will be full bright and parking lights are on, LEDs will dim.

Active corner illumination
Do any of you know if anyone has successfully had the dealership DISABLE this stupid feature using their STAR DS system? I have mine going in for its first service soon and they said they will try their best, whatever that means. I dont want to have to go there, for them not knowing how to do this, and then just claim they cant because they dont want to figure out how to do it. The wife the other day called me and told me that as I was backing out of the garage, she noticed a fog light burned out. Yeah, thanks.

Are the headlights on as soon as you start the car up? Can they be turned off in the main menu on dash? I will check how I wired mine and let you know.

I will let you all know by next week if I can get mercedes to disable the Active Corner Illumination feature for the Fogs. If not, I am willing to just disable the fogs electrically if possible. I really dont care for them now that my LEDs are on all the time. Way nicer looking than the fogs.

Interesting. Never thought of that. Do you have LED eyebrow lights, and if so, can you post some pics? Also, what are the silver indicator globes? Have no idea what you're talking about. Again, any pics would be great. I think I saw someone here on this forum who had blue eyebrow lights. I thought it looked interesting, but maybe to eccentric ...
Also, has anyone figured out how to turn the eyebrows on without the fog lights? I would love to be able to turn the eyebrows on with just the LEDs (w/out the fogs and w/out the headlights).

Chrome indicator bulbs. Very easy to change. You need offset pins

So by turning light switch once position to the right, only the eyebrows turn on without the headlights? And what's this button you're talking about. It's like we're talking about different cars here. lol.
I know these Canadian cars are a bit different, but not that different.

Yes thats right.
There are 2 buttons next to headlight switch the top one is for front fog lights which when pressed will show a green light on dash, the bottom button is for rear fog lights and when pressed will show an orange light in dash .

Our fogs are controlled by the same switch for th headlights. To turn the fogs on, I turn the headlight switch all the way to the right and pull out the switch to turn the fogs on. If I turn the headlight switch to the second last setting on the right and pull out , this will turn on the eyebrows with out the headlights, but this automatically turns on the fogs. I think it has to do with Canadian laws requiring day time running lights on all the time. So you can't have just eyebrows on. Not enough lighting, therefore the fogs must come on with the eyebrows. Again, very irritating.
For the rear fog lights, we turn the headlight switch to the left and pull out. Again, no button set up like yours.
Regarding the LEDs for the Eyebrows that you provided the link to, are these difficult to install? Is there a manual guide or video to follow? Dont want to mess anything up. Also, do you know if it's easy to somehow disconnect the fog lights?

Very easy to install eyebrow LED'S. Don't know how to disconnect fogs though. I upgraded my fog light bulbs to Phillips 5000k Diamond Vision, these are a lot whiter than the standard bulbs and have a hint of blue

The Canadian 2011 has these, but they are driver side only. They're actually European markers that are for pulling off to the side of the road, for visibility. Ive been told they are used in lieu of "Hazard Lights"

Yeah, I knew we have that feature, and we do have it on the passengers side too. I checked it. I was jealous of the fact that the australian model has an actual button for the fog lights. I think it gives you more options as to when to turn them on or off, but I may be mistaken.
AMG-010, did you go with the BLUE eyebrow lights or the WHITE ones?

I bought a set of both the 5000k and 8000k. I personally prefer the 8000k which is what I have in my car now.

Tires
Off topic here, but how wide can I go on rubber on the rear stock rims? I am thinking of going with the Michelin Pilot Super Sport. Can I go with 275s? Or would it rub?
And is there another brand that you would recommend that is better value than the super sports?

I ordered them frmo www.piecha.com. Marcus Piecha, owner of Piecha, makes these. You have to order from them, and they are in Germany. Some guys ordered from Chrometec, which is a distributor, but they too are also from Germany. Same price, but for some reason, the shipping was much cheaper from Piecha. Dont know why.
I had to use google translate to navigate my way through their website (piecha), but once I sent them an email, the quickly sent me an invoice so I know what to pay in Cdn$ including shipping, etc, ... with a paypal number ...
Make sure they code the tax at 0% when they invoice you. This is their tax, not the duty we pay here.
If I recall correctly, in Cdn $ it was like $800 or something Cdn. The price on their site of $500 or so is in Euros. Just make sure you get these instaled right, and you wont regret it. I absolutely love the look. Mercedes can learn a few things from these guys.
My car is in the shop as we speak for its first service and I'm having them try to disable the stupid Active Corner Illumination feature of our foglights. Supposedly this can be done using their Star DS. We'll find out today. They've never done it before.
I will update everyone later.
Nothing more pathetic than having nice LEDs on and then the odd fog light lighting up when you're turning. What was mercedes thinking when they made this feature?
The only person that would want this feature is someone who drives on dark roads everyday with no lighting, maybe someone who lives on a farm?? Hopefully this will be put to rest once and for all today.
Let me know if you need any help with the LED ordering. I can always dig up my order form. By the way, the strong Cdn$ should help you.
