Is it normal for PowerChip to charge $190 to flash back your ECU to stock?

I thought I remember them having a lower price to do that when I bought the ECU last year...did they raise their prices? I cannot get anyone on the phone from PC to confirm.

Yeah I get the fact that they might not be happy I'm switching, but hopefully my experience will alert other future customers about what to expect. Very disappointing...but based on the stuff I've been reading lately...not shocking.

Word from one of their ex customers: STAY AWAY FROM POWERCHIP
They are a bunch of scammers. They change the prices left and right, and even though there is a 2 week money back guarantee, they do not keep their word. Had my car flashed by them, and it LOST power!!! Wanted my money back and they said no. They did ultimately re-tune the car and it did make some power, but I would stay away.

I believe it is $150 bucks and agree it sucks but I am sure they told you that up front prior to you going with them. I had my ECU flashed by PC and am ultimately happen. Would I go with them again, no! I would definitely use Eurocharged. The other issue I have with everyone bashing PC - they only charge $500 bucks for a flash were as everyone else is approx. 1200 bucks. They are starting to come down but in my eyes 1200 bucks for a flash is highway robbery so we should be made at all the tuners which are bending us over just because we drive a benz. Why don't they sell the ability for us to flash our own ECU's and sell the flashes? Just my two cents.

Can’t speak authoritatively as to what’s “normal” for fees and procedures among most aftermarket MB tuners.
My good man, where’s the fun in that? :)

If I were you I wouldnt let them touch my ECU again. let your new tuner flash your ECU back to stock and let them work from there. Powerchip tried to tune my SLS and I completely rejected

However, what I will say is that apparently PC encrypted my stock file so it cannot be extracted, so um, there's a nice waste of $190!!!! Thanks Powerchip!!
I truly now understand the term caveat emptor.

I was just injecting a little twist in the conversation. What I meant was I wonder how PC would react and explain themselves if he came back and asked them to put their code in again. Personally I think PC is not acting in their own best interests.
