Guys, I'm in need of some help here. I've done a lot of research, but still can't make a decision. I'm looking for a solid street/lapping day pad for the c63, and here's what I've found:

Endless pads - top of the line with top of the line prices. I can't fathom spending more than $500 on brake pads.

Hawk DTC-60/Raybestos combo - great track pads, but again expensive (not sure if they are actually expensive or just the only people that sell them have a huge markup). Also, i dd my car.

Ferodo - mixed reviews and can't find a place to buy them

EBC Yellowstuff - Mixed reviews. I keep leaning this way, but there's so much speculation that they ruin rotors. I can't seem to pull the trigger.

OEM replacement - they just get eaten at track days...

Are we relegated to spending 600+$ on brake pads? This doesn't make sense! I bought hawk hp+ pads for my sti for $200 all four corners. I can't believe that reasonable pads for this car are 4* that in price...

Has anyone found a decent deal or am i relegated to take a risk or put a huge amount of cash ionto pads?

What does Racing Brakes recommend? I believe they are a new Sponsor, and although I don't believe they make pads, I would listen to their advice. I have had great luck with their products in the past for street or track

If you end up with stock pads order a bunch from www.mymercedesparts.com.

Call ACGSD and get the endless pads. I have 'em with my evo rotors for about a month and they're simply awesome. Actually, no noise and low dust. I was told that they last an incredible amount of track days....you definitely get what you pay for here..

I've been running EBC on my bikes and previous cars with good luck except for the Red Stuff Pads, they suck on the street.

As originally stated, I'm not payiung more than $500 for pads. Right now I have semi old rotors, and I'm willing to take a slight risk.

I'm leaning towards the yellow stuff pads, as they have a good reputation on other cars. The people that appear to badmouth them around here are those that sell higher end pads. I'm sure the high end pads are better, but are they 5% or 50% better?

The other option is OEM, but I'd rather not do that.

Someone is going to have to take a risk, and put up an independant review on yellowstuff pads.... at this point it looks like it will be me. Hopefully this thread will save other c63 owners a lot oftime and money in the future.

(sorry for the typing mistakes, but i have a broken hand)

endless are good pads if you plan to track your car more, they like temperature, oem pads cannot survive from abuse

So evidently you didn't read the Car and Driver test on Hawk and EBC pads. You don't need to pay $500 for a set of pads.

Where are you getting your info on stock pads? I have run 2 seasons of autocross, 1/2 track road track season on stock pads and have not witnessed fading. My rotors and pads are almost shot at 40K but they are standing up. The stock pads and rotors are not that bad of a compromise.

I don't trust car and driver or road and track. Watching cars win comparisons based on a "gotta have it" factor absolutely kills me.

That being said, I'll be trying ebc, and we'll see how it goes.

2 45 minute lapping sessions at mosport burned 25% off of my bads.

Yeah but if you read the article, it is a pretty scientific shootout, new rotors for each pad test, no real subjectives. Just because you burnt off 25% of your pads, doesn't mean its bad, that what track days do your car. If your brakes fade or hit the floor and don't stop, that's a different issue.

I felt like my braking distances got longer and longer throughout the day, but it was my first track day... it could've just been me.

I'm going to have to do some trade/financial research for you guys. But let me just say, I haven't actually paid for brake pads in almost 12 years and there's a good reason.

It's weird how they do look like they're chipping on the outside (EBC), but they provide consistent stopping power.

I've run hawk pads in the past on my previous cars and have always been impressed with their performance. I've heard of very mixed reviews for EBC pads in general but hardly anyone ever complain of Hawk pads FWIW.

Agreed, but according to Hawk there are no pads for our cars. Although I know there are people running Hawk pads, I can't seem to lay my hands on a part number...

I run them on my Supra and it's one of the best pads I've ever used. Hawk pads I personally hate!

Hey Taimur,

I did a little research on these guys, and they look pretty good. All the reviews are pretty excellent, and it looks like I'll be ordering XP10 for the front and XP8 for the rear.

Definitely more expensive than the yellowstuff pads, but not nearly as bad as endless, and slightly better than evosport's setup. (~$550).Plus, if you need to get another set, you save $130, as there is a core charge the first time.

In the end, it was difficult to pursue EBC with all of the terrible reviews.

I'll post up a review when I get these installed in a few weeks.

^^ Glad I could assist and like I said Carbotech makes very good pads. But the XP10 and XP8 are pretty aggressive pads. If you track your car often then go for them but for the street they might be too much.

I use the AX6 for a 800whp Supra and they provide plenty of stopping power on the street but I do not track my car.

You may want to call Carbotech directly as they are very helpful with guiding based on your needs. They will also give a small discount if you say you are a member of car forums.

The guy said they'd make some noise, but overall not too bad. I'm planning on a few more track days this year, so worse comes to worse, I'll burn through them in a couple months, and then go less aggressive.
