Every now and then my engine makes a tapping sound that sounds exactly like hydraulic lifter noise. Today was one of those every now and thens. Anyone else? I heard an SLS in the service drive of the local dealer that was doing the same thing. Is there a commonality here? Have not taken the time to search this place so forgive me if the answer is there a page or two back. Oh, and disregard my user ID. That was the trade-in for my 63.

I had the same lifter ticking noise yesterday morning. The car kept ticking until it was fully warmed up. It has yet to repeat itself, so I'll just wait and see.

Ticking noise is from the lifters.
Nothing to worry about it.

Yeah, the problem is that my car was doing it loooong after it was warmed up. It's under warranty so I'll just take the wait and see approach. I justed was wondering if it was happening to anyone else. Just like my cold steering moan when turning right in the a.m. Annoying.

So far my car is working perfectly. The only time I hear steering moan is if I turn the wheel completely at a standstill. I have learned to let off brake early to let the car roll before the final half turn on the wheel. But sometimes it is difficult due to space in parking lots and when backing out of the driveway.
