Daily Driver

How many using your AMG's as a daily driver? I have had mine for some time now, using it as a daily driver. But driving at 25-50 mph in the city and about 20 miles per day, I continually get the thought "What a waste of my AMG, this thing needs to be able to stretch its legs" (not always practical). How are you dealing with this 'guilt' of piling up not-so-fun miles on your AMG's? (Buying a car to limit miles on the AMG not an option!). Weekends are a blast however - its too easy to hit the speed limiter on early weekend mornings! Just curious how the rest of you using your AMG's.

I have had my car for 9 weeks and it is my daily driver. Yes, traffic can be cumbersome but I always find that moment, or two, or three, to give me that euphoric feeling. Keeps me going and keeps me looking back every time I park it, like it was a surprise or something!

Yes, a little bit of overkill as an everyday driver but it only forces you to find that opportunity to put that grin on your face.

Ok here is my answer to your post. I bought a brand new 06 C55 (special ordered it) and used it as my second car. I had a truck as my daily driver. Honestly I found myself never driving it. I just got use to jumping in the truck everyday and driving it. I sold the car with 14k miles on it and took a bath on the resale. I remember telling myself if I ever bought another one I would buy it used and drive the hell out of it. I am doing that now with my C63 and lovin every minute of it! Another thought..I love my both of my AMGs but they are not really second cars IMHO. A second car or weekend car should be something that is more of a toy. Example. I almost bought a Superformance MKIII (Cobra replica). Glad I didn't...think I would have killed myself in it already

Theres this guy I have the opportunity to follow daily in his metallic silver GTR. He drives it cross-town and probably does about 10 miles daily. Never hits 4k revs, nor does he do any aggressive takeoffs.

I also have the same problem everytime I walk to and away from the car. Always smiling. It's like that long lost love that you just want to run over to and hug.

My commute to work SUCKS. It's literally 7.4 minutes. I timed it. So depressing. But I still fire her up and just listen to it all the way there.

Try taking the long way. That's what I do almost every day.

Daily drive mines. I thought about buying a civic as a daily driver when I bought my c63, but I'm glad I didn't. Driving to work sucks because of traffic, but the drive home is more enjoyable. I have open areas where I like to let it rip, it takes the stress off. And I have the wife's e63 that I take out on the weekend. :o

Oh I indeed try. I do almost anything I can to take the long way.
Sad part is that the oil isn't even done warming up and I have to turn it off and stare at it from the window...

I bought a used 350Z as a DD so I wouldn't put as many miles on the C63. I've had it for about 3 months now, and commute 60 miles daily. I still find myself wanting to drive the C63 instead, and will probably sell the 350Z soon.
