Mercedes C63 amg, Bmw X5,
They got to be joking right...

So I came across C63 amg coupe cabriolet article. Basically it says they are going to make it and that the amg version will use the new 5.5 biturbo engine, but detuned to 420HP. I am not liking this, and thus am not taking the article seriously

Here's the link to the article:

I would find a better source of info. The article is full of BS. take for example:

"The only difference provided for the engine will be that power will be reduced to about 420 HP compared to the current 525 HP"

Since when did a stock C63 had a 525HP rating?

Its cool bro. we need a good laugh sometimes. I think If AMG would equip the new C63 with the 5.5 TT, I would assume they would reduce a little of the HP. the torque on that engine would be insane for the C63's lighter weight. Then again, a detuned engine can always be tuned

+1
Exactly what I was about to say. It doesn't matter if they detune it...You just chip it and your set. I really cant wait for the new '14 C63 to come out.

But first C63 BS. I wish they made sedan...I would be definitely buying it.

I did not read the article, but based on the statement you posted, I am guessing they are not talking about the stock 525hp of a C class, rather the stock HP of that particular engine. Same way we have a slightly detuned 6.2L V8 in our cars compared to the other MB models in the amg range.

Also.. an AMG convertible seems like a bad idea... the reinforcement required to make the car safe for rollovers would probably add more overall weight to the vehicle then a non convertible.
