Whatever is going on here, there is a huge power difference. Who owns these C63? It seems to look very similar this this APR video. Where on Audi S4 has about 50 or so more WHP.

Jeremy vs Xtyper from what I hear. Jeremy in the camera car for sure.

There is some discrepancy by some that the drivers skill levels made the difference. From what I can see (Crap video) Jeremy got the jump on a few runs but his car continued to pull pretty hard after that.

The mirror is deceiving also. (Objects in mirror are closer than appear) Not sure how far back the MBH car was but its at least 1 car length.

Shoot, can't hide from Propain...that was indeed me vs Jeremy on some late night spirited Mexico runs.

Yes, Jeremy is definitely a much better driver and did get the jump on quite a few runs, but he still pulled me up top every time no matter how even the start. I'd say he had me by an average of 2 cars on the even start 40-130 runs.

That said, there was some question as to whether I had filled up with some bad gas or been dealer reflashed shortly before these runs, which is what prompted them in the first place. We figured that since our cars had put down similar numbers on his dyno, that that would be the true test of whether my car was really down on power. Given his better driving skills and slight mod advantage with the intake and catback race exhaust, I'm not sure the results were conclusive. I'm going down to ACGSD tomorrow for a full tune reflash and then maybe we can do a few more runs to eliminate that variable (although I doubt the results will change much).

One thing's for sure, Jeremy's driving skills + Jeremy's OE Tune + Jeremy's car = MONSTER. There is no doubt in my mind that when he gets some decent weather and the chance to run again, the West Coast will put up some 10's.

I'm definitely interested in having Jeremy tune my spare ECU when he has time to see how it compares to the ACGSD header matched tune.

Hope to have some official comparison results in the near future, as I'm getting really tired of staring at Jeremy's rear license plate!

xtyper,

Did you take the car to the dealer after your tune last week?

I'm hoping to have my car on the dyno tomorrow with the Weistec Stage 1 plus ported heads. Are you going to have yours dyno'd again after the reflash?

What time you going to be there do you think? Oddly enough I have a gaping hole in my schedule tomorrow all day and can stop in there anytime.

If they don't start throwing stuff on my car, I'm going to bring a crescent wrench and finish it myself

Film away. Drive it carefully to the dyno to check the assembly. If it doesn't blow up on the dyno you can beat it on the way back.

My next question is tricky. If the car that was "beaten" by a large margin already puts a crazy 470whp/416lb-tq on a Dyno Dynamic dyno, it makes you wonder what kind of power the other car had/has. Wouldn't you agree?

As far is the comment about one driver being better than the other, well, the test should be done in Sport mode to eliminate any disavantages or differences. my .2c

what is Jeremy's screen name if you don't mind me asking?

It is thought that the losing car has been flashed back to stock (by the dealer during service) and isn't making 470 at the moment. That's why he's going in to flash the ECU and get new dyno pulls tomorrow.

Being flashed back to stock while running headers?

I think you would know 100% if this happened. Wouldn't the car just run terrible and throw a cell right away?

Headers themselves wouldn't throw a CEL if you still had all the cats (even aftermarket) and O2 sensors in place. Its just a more efficient pipe.

Ok cell aside... you figure the car would still run terrible with headers and a stock tune? Maybe not.. Ive heard of others saying the stock tune with headers made the car run really bad.

His car is running headers with the primaries intact? Ugh.. there is the problem right there if that's true.

Most people run headers with no cats and no O2 sensors. If you did this with a stock tune then it would run like crap and set about 10 codes.

I don't know his car that well. I guess we'll know whats up by this time tomorrow.

Yeah my bad, I thought he removed his cats. In my opinion, why bother with the header if you leave the biggest bottleneck on the car? I would sooner remove the cats and leave the stock manifolds.

Hopefully he can get it dialed in. Look forward to another run and please god not a dyno.. also make it a good video this time!

Those of us that live in CA have to think about how we are going to pass smog testing every couple of years. None of the shops I've ever been to have ever sone a visual inspection. But if they did, headers would fail the check immediately if you can't produce a CARB sticker for them.

Of course, you still have to pass the sniff test on a dyno as well. So, owners here tend to have the cats installed at least to fit them for future use and then use bypass pipes. There's no way in hell I would keep an intact OE exhaust system laying around and swap it in every 2 years to pass smog. So mine will follow the pattern, build it to pass smog with cats and O2's. Then put in bypass pipes and keep aftermarket hi-flow cats around for smog test time.

Jim
