Fix-It Ticket - No Front Plate (Solutions?)
Looks like my long streak is finally over so I was wondering, has anyone figured out any cheap temporary solutions to a front plate w/o drilling holes or installing a hide-away plate?
From the looks of it, gominigo might be an option but considering since it's been a while I wanted to know if any of you had any other suggestions that have worked well for you?

I am thinking about doing the hideaway plate to mess with the cops. Have it hidden and if I get pulled over pop it out and be like "what do you mean I don't have a front plate..."
Of course I am kidding as I never mess with the boys in blue, or do I...

I used clear zipties on my old E46 M3. The lower intake was the perfect size for the plate. Easy to remove and virtually invisible. The tow hook brackets work well too.

MNLIce had tried the hide-away plate and said it rubbed so I never went that route. However, I have to take it in on the 26th of the month and figure out some easy solution for it by then. I have seen Velcro being used but not sure if it would fly?
@Berber63 - What did you do, did you drill?

What I do - put double stick tape on the back of the plate at the very top. Drive to the police station, but hop out as I get close and slap the plate on the front. Drive slow and park near the front. Walk in, say I need to get a front plate signed off. The offcier walks out, sees the plate, signs the ticket. I drive off slowly, hop out at the corner, and take the plate off.
the $10 fix it is worth the risk to not have an ugly plate, bracket, or holes on my front bumper.

www.rhoplate.com !!! It's adjustable and one of the best out there
As for the double sided tape, I am going to keep that as a back-up just in case rhoplate doesn't arrive in time. What tape are you guys using? 3M Super Strong Automotive Attachment Tape or something else?

double-sided tape is a joke...don't waste your time especially if you go to van nuys. Go to a CHP station they are sometimes nicer and careless. Zip ties I'd say 40% chance working. Double sided tape 5% (basically if they look at it from 20ft away - it has happened once). It has to be fastened, so technically bolts/screws and for some zipties is enough.
I've done this about 12 times in 10 years
rhoplate looks good, not sure how it fastens but a tow hook solution is the best

I found a solution using suction cups. Scroll about 1/2 way down https://mbworld.org/forums/e-clas...nse-plate.html

When I used to be in Boston, I had double sided tape on my plate, but threw it in the trunk, and when I was pulled over by the cops once I told them that I was parked earlier that day on Newburry St. and when I returned to my car the plate was on the ground. I said someone probably hit me while parking and took off. He let me got with no ticket or anything else!!

It has worked for me 6-7 times. Oakland pd, Richmond pd, Berkeley pd, sf pd.
I wasn't clear in my post but my license plate is screwed onto the plastic plate holder. My double stick tape is on the back of the holder. So it looks legit even up close. Still double stick tape.

Just got a shipping estimate, not sure if this thing will arrive in time. Looks like I need a back-up solution to get signed off on the 26th still.
Zip ties you say? lol

I love it! A couple brackets and bolts - $70! Gotta love these vendors' artificial inflation. Same kit for a honda is probably $10. $70 is just shameless though.

I have seen some photos, of the few AMG owners, no wanted to drill holes in their bumpers, so the used their exisitng tow hook location, to mount a license plate braket. I thought that was ingenius, you might want to start their.

If you are in the area or driving by, go to the CHP office in Culver City, it's tiny, and I've had officers that didn't even walk up to the car to check, they just eye balled it from across the lot.
There is also the "quake hold" museum putty option as well.
