Stick with Hankook or Michelin Super Sport??
Hey guys I need your help!!
Basically what the title says.
I'm currently running Hankook tires right now and im pretty happy with them so far but I have been looking at the Michelin SS tires for the past week and want to get them on all 4 corners. Don't know if I should pull the trigger or not.
Here are my thoughts on both tires.
-Michelin Super Sport
Pros: Superior Grip and handling characteristics, great tread life, 6 year/30,000 mile warranty, Perform better and cost cheaper then PS2's.
Cons: Expensive.
-Hankook Evo v12 K110
Pros: Great price, good handling, quite, comfortable, Good tread wear.
Cons: Sidewalls are too soft, They flex too much when cornering hard.
Which one would you guys choose?
Thanks for all your help!

I'm nearly through my first set of rears in the PSS. I've got close to 12,000 kms on 275s. I don't gun it off the line very much but I am on the gas a lot once I'm moving. Really great tire that comes with a 15,000km warranty. No way I'll put anything else back there.

I just put on the Hankooks and agree that the sidewall is soft...once these are finished, I'm going to take a hard look at the PSS for next spring.

Not really an apple to apple comparison, sure they're tires but... That's like asking someone, "Should I get a C300 or a C63?" If you are on a budget get the Hankooks if you aren't get the Michelins

Ever consider the Michelin Sport A/S?
Not sure about price difference, but they have been solid performers for me.

On a SL55 I have had PS2's Pirelli PZero's and new Super Sports were just installed 3 weeks go.
Put very simply the Pilot Super Sport is the best tires (non R Comp) I have ever driven on. The PS2 is a terrible tire with very soft sidewalls and astronomical pricing but the PSS is not even similar. The tire is extremely quiet, has more grip than the Pirelli, has better steering response, and will last longer than the other two put together possibly.
I would go with the PSS without question.
On the SL there is an issue with a wiggling rear end when you accelerate and the PS2 was the worst tire for this issue. The Pirelli reduced the issue greatly but the new PSS totally eliminates the issue due to its new sidewall design.

Thanks guys, I'm going with the Super Sports.
My rear Hankook's probably have another 1k-2k miles left in them. As soon as they are done im going with Michelins on all 4 corners.

If you want to save some money.....and have good handling..
I recently bought Continental DWs for my SL65 and am very impressed....
I was an anti- Continental guy for years after disliking my Contact 2s on my Porsche.......thought they were , loud, hard as rocks, with above average handling....
My Bridgestone 050A wore well but always exhibited soft sidewalls on hard acceleration and I went with DWs after hearing numerous times about Hankook V-12 soft sidewalls, etc.. and not wanting to overspend for Michelin PS2s which were pretty good on my Porsche.....
So......... I went in between on price and am very happy with the DWs handling in both wet and dry........

I have run the Hanook's. They suck. Sorry. No grip and soft sidewall. They are cheap and you get what you pay for.
Star specs are really good. The PS's im running now are amazing. But expensive as you know. But worth it in my opinion. Not sure on the SS's but I would just stay away from the Hanooks.

Why would you not go with the Hankook RS3 is your are complaining about handling. All the magazine tests place them at the top of the street tire heap for track tires. They are cheap and may only last 10K but who cares. I run Direzza Star Specs, they have better rain bite but sacrifice dry traction.

Just ordered a set of Michelin Super Sports.
265/30/19 Rear
235/35/19 Front
Tires should be here late tomorrow or Thursday. I'm sure they will live up to they're expectations.
Will keep you guys updated.

Haven't considered A/S tires at all since we have sun 90% of the time here in L.A.
We pretty much see eye to eye but I wouldnt say the Hankooks are terrible, they are very good tires for the price but Michelins have a reputation that exceeds them. Quality comes at a price and Michelins are the benchmark of quality tires imo.

You see much warmer temps year round than me so you will see better performance with any tire.

All depends on where ya from I guess. Terrible was probably a bit harsh. I ran the Hanooks during the colder months and in those temps I was really dissapointed with their performance.
