Got Rear Ended!!!

First of all Im ok coz I got hit in Los Angeles traffic along 101 North doing maybe 4-5mph.... I got hit by a Ford E350 Club, its just a stop-n-go traffic I guess "she" was texting or something. Sorry no pix just a cellphone pix and my car's damage is a slight scratch and a dent or two, Now my question is...our rear bumpers repairable? coz I heard its plastic and plastic cant be bondo/repaired...is this correct? She gave me her insurance info etc etc...BTW hot blonde chick offered me $50.00 for the damage

Don't worry dude...totally repairable...

I had a Denali smack me from behind too...took it to the bodyshop....and cant even tell....cost me about $300

You should've at least got a "motorboat" out of it

Had the same thing happen to me in my X5 a few years ago. It was one of those small LA school busses ...... which means you have to wait FOREVER until CHP shows up.

Anyway, only the bumper had some scratches and a couple of dents. The aluminum bar was fine and the shocks didn't collapse. Since it's a 4.8iS, the bill was almost $1,800 (new bumper skin and paint) ..... hope you got her insurance info

Those hits can be hard for sure. In my STI I hit someone doing 5 mph and it cracked the license plate holder and also crack the bumper where it was screwed in.

I'm glad it was just a bump. When I hear Rear ended I imaged your car being all messed up.

Plastic/urethane can be repaired. Fusor, SEM and 3M makes a bunch of plastic repair products. You should be fine. And if it can't be repaired, then perhaps a 2012 rear bumper?

didn't know your back door was open for business...

why are you so eager to bondo it...it's a merc with dents and scratches. Replace the thing, it's not on you. New bumper and paint/install is probably 2k. Unless your getting laid or eating cornhole why so nice?

Maybe this will make u feel beter lol. I got my car back from body shop yesterday at 3pm and went back to work till 11pm and on the way home a 4-5inch tree branch dropped rite in front of my path, If I dint manuver out the way my hood and windshield would have been all F'ed up. Only got away with a quarter and nickel size dent on my roof.
And dentdevils are fixing it tomorrow.
What luck huh.

So you got a lot of other topics loaded into your thread, so let me pop in the political one.

Last year (in Ca), you could have got the repair completed for about $200. The vendor would have filled and deep scratches and then matched paint and done this all in your driveway.

In 2011, they are no longer allowed to use hydrocarbon based carriers. It must all be water based. As a result, it can only be done in a shop and usually the whole bumper. The water based stuff just does not dry fast enough.

As a result, you are looking at a new rear bumper and paint. spot fixes are no longer possible.

It is a shame. The guys who fixed my front bumper made it so good you can only tell if I point it out.

I dont want bondo I just assumed her insurance company might push for this. Its my first time and dont know how the other driver's insurance works.

I got rear ended 10 days ago, got her insurance to get me a brand new bumper for tire marks, ripped clear bra and a small hole in the bumper. I refused a LKQ/refurbished one, so after a little "friendly" discussion, they got me a brand new one. Car will be ready Friday. Sorry for thread jack.
