Oil Cooler Fan
Does anyone happen to know at what temperature does the oil have to be, before the oil cooler's fan kick on? Also, does it run quiet?, I ask these questions, because I have never heard it run even when the temperature was 102F not counting the heat index, here is the DC area. Maybe just maybe mine, might be broken, I don't know And I pride myself on knowing everything about my cars.

I called my indy, and texted my AMG tech at ASC, currently awaiting an answer from either of them.

Maybe the fan does work, but is very quiet.
Hell, I don't know....that is why I'm seeking answers.

JeffDL,
There is a fan mounted on the oil cooler that is mounted on the passenger side, just behind the bumper. I just talked to my indy, and he said the fan is very quiet, so you might not heat it. And that he will look up the technical spec in ALLDATA, and let me know. I'm still awaiting a text from my AMG Master Tech. But the fan is there, take a look for yourself.

If you drive hard for a bit and the temp goes above 107 degrees Celcius then the extra oil cooling fan kicks in until the engine oil temp falls below 107 C. However you won't hear it from inside but if you stop the car and leave the engine running you can step out towards the right side front bumper vents and hear it for yourself. It's fairly noticeable from the outside. Plus if you move closer to the vents you'll feel the heat being blown out of those side vents! It's quite a cool thing and makes those vents actually functional and not just a stylish addition. :-))

That's louder then the fan. When both are on at the same time u will only hear the trans cooler bc it's so loud.

I knew about the oil cooler, trans cooler, and power steering coolers.
Well, I learned something new today about the car, that I didn't know an hour ago.
I don't think that, I'll ever drive the car that hard to hear the oil cooler fan kick on.
Now that reminds me, when I was at the AMG Performance Drive in Monticello, you could hear all the fans going, because we literally drove the cars like we stole them.

The AMG Black Series cars, (SL65, CLK63) etc.. utilized that space for additional coolers. Now the C63 Black Series Coupe as well.

There isn't a whole lot of data on this car actually, besides from what Mercedes-AMG has already released.
