Paging obsidian05e55 or those who've plasti dipped their grilles
Hey guys a few questions. I'm coming to the states in a few days and am gonna buy some plasti dip to do my grille here in Dubai. A few questions
1. How many cans do I need to do the front grille
2. Do the chrome pieces on the front grille just pop off with a small thin flat head screwdriver or is there some other process to popping them off
Thanks in advance
Imran

Hello Imran,
I used only one can. The chrome trim does come off, the center pieces just slide, and unclip. The lower chrome trim is tough. You have to use a small flat head screw driver, and slower pry each clip. Working from one end to the other. Be careful, as they can break easily. The star if quite difficult to remove. I honestly dont remember how i got it out. Just take your time. Dont scuff the chrome, just clesn it well, and rub it with some alcohol before sprsying the Plasti-Dip. This way if you ever wanna peel it off, your chrome will still be perfect.

I regret doing my own plastic dip DIY. I spent so much time on disassembling the grill. If you can, just buy a new painted grill from ebay!

I totally would buy one if I could find it. All the ones available on ebay are from China and/or Taiwan (no issues with that) but specifically mention that they don't fit the c63. Have u found any that will fit the c63 ?

I just took some extra time and taped everything off/left it on the car. Took a little longer, but the results were well worth it. You can just rub off any overspray. Only used one can too, btw. Good luck!

Plasti dipped mine, make sure to remove the op part of the grill from the hood too to do it right. I like the look when I have my matte black wheels on...

i plastidipped my grill, i unclipped the main grill and took the took chrome strip out with a screw driver then just gave them both about 8-10 even coats over about an hour or an hour and a half until it was even and black throughout and it looks great, its been about 3 months now and it hasn't chipped or faded at all
