My C63 won't give emissions readings
Hi all,
I've been having a hard time getting my emissions inspection (needed to re-register the car in my state) on my '09 C63. It seems like the machine that two different places are using (a gas station and the dealer) isn't able to either connect or take readings from the vehicle -- sorry, I don't know much about the process. Each time, the tech advised me to drive the car more or "run the car hot/hard" and come back. Of course, I've been glad to do this, but now my registration is expired and am starting to wonder what gives? I wouldn't say I put that many daily miles on the car, but it seems pretty archaic to have to put, say 1000 more miles on it, or take it to the drag strip just to get an emissions test done!
Also, would this have anything to do with my Kleeman tune on the ECU and might the dealer reflash the ECU? Always worrying about that.
TIA.

Get hold of Cory at Kleeman and I think he may be able to help you out. It sounds like something in the tune is keeping the test readiness data from running because of a setting in the tune. I think he will be able to fix it for you without dealer involvement.

You may need an update. I was tuned on fall '09 and the O2 readiness monitors were not on. Since been taken care of with the updated tune. Just contact Cory w/ your VIN and he'll be able to tell you.

FYI you may need to go through a certain number of specified drive cycles to set all monitors to a "ready state." Not every drive will contribute to that, only those that meet the manufacturer's drive cycle requirements for cold start, duration, type of driving etc. Recently I drove my M5 290.5 miles for four days under a variety of conditions after codes were cleared and it still failed MIL readiness.
