C63 at dealer.. Minor rant about loaner C300
Okay, my car went into the dealer on Monday to get some warranty work done, most notably the light switch (my lights were turning off and then back on again, dash lights as well, when I hit bumps). I figured it was the switch when I touch it lightly the lights did the same thing.
I also have ticking (may or may not be related to the other ongoing threads relating to a lawsuit) that I wanted them to look at, as well as very hard shifting in the first 3 gears.. They will probably recomend a transmission fluid flush (which they are not quoting me around $520.. which seems excessive).
That being said.. I have a C300 4matic as a loaner... what a total piece of crap. It is utter garbage. The C63 is my first MB, I have been in others before, a C55 is the only c class one though. MB's are supposed to be luxury cars, and the C class is supposed to be an intro car into the luxury segment..
This car has absolutely nothing, except XM radio. The seats are leatherish (mind you I almost flew out the window when taking a corner.. apparently I am used to my bucket seats ). It has no get up and go.. in fact.. the get up and go got up and left as it was disgusted with the C class...
Seriously though, while the base model is just that, there should be atleast some luxury in the car.. but there is nothing. The base Chevy Cruze has the same amenities as the base C class...
Anyways... /rant

I don't know about you but I just take the loaner and be on with life.
I have had from smart car loaners all the way to AMG loaners....
I m happy with anything as long as they give me a car.

i have a C300 4matic with everything except P2. its actually a nice car for what its intended to do. get someone from point A to B even when it snows a little. nav helps the interior and adds some nice functions. they are pretty plain w/o nav however. but for something nicer than a camry it fits the bill imo.

I almost shed a tear for you.... NOT! Get over it. It's a loaner. It's not like they asked you to walk home uphill both ways in a snow storm barefooted. Or did they? I've had one as a loaner too. I can't say I like it much either. But, I find it fun to drive different things.

Funny, I had the exact same experience last week as I took my C63 to the local deal to get the navi updated as well as new snow tires. The C300 4Matic wasn't as bad as you have said but close. What worse is that the dealer has a new C coupe in the lot, which is beautiful, but it was coupled with a pretty worthless 4 cylinder turbo and badged as a C250... Now that's sad.

the C300 is ****, drives like a boat.
Drive a bmw 328, way better in terms of sport. Good steering, balance, easy to drive at the limit. The C300 is so ****ty, rather buy japanese.

They had a C300 and GLK 350 available for loan when I dropped my car off the other day. Ended up taking the GLK, it actually only had 31 miles when I got it. First MB I've driven aside from my C63, no complaints.

I wish I'd get a C300.... I get a b200 (non turbo) as a loaner... reminds me of my wifes Mazda5. But then I'm more than happy to get back in the C63!
Actually I find that for 80000$+ canadian dollars, my car is quite cheap interior wise. Rattles a lot, cheap plastic all arround... It's to a C300 what the STI is to an Impreza, a sooped up entry level car. I didn't buy it for the interior I bought it for the insane mechanics. I'm able to live with the rattles...

I was not really complaining about the fact that they gave me a crappy car as a loaner.
The issue I was ranting about, was the fact that MB is a luxury brand.. and the C class, at least the base model, has no luxury. It is definately better looking than a Camry, but has the same options basically... For a car that advertises itself as a luxury brand, there needs to be more amenities and better quality (although the new 2012 has appeared to cover some of my gripes.. mine was a 2010 or 2011).. Just saying..
But I am glad I got the loaner, and will gladly accept one again in the future. I was just pointing out that the C class should be much better in a base model then it is.

Miserly mpg, exhibitionist torque (i.e. Q5 TDI)
The standard C class is not MB's strong suit. It's funny, because I have zero interest in any Mercedes' models outside of the AMG range, which is outstanding. But if I were going to get a non-amped small sedan, I'd skip right over the C and pick up a 3 series, A4 if I wanted all wheel drive, or G37 if I needed the space. The C wouldn't even be on my radar. For that matter, I'd probably skip the E and CLS models for the BMW and Audi equivalents in a heartbeat as well.
Of course that all goes out the window when you hit the AMG range.
