Swapping out orange sidemarkers diy?

I've been searching for a diy for a couple of days - but haven't found anything. DOes one exist? I'm not mechanically inclined, so Im' a bit nervous and would prefer a guide - even though it might be relatively easy...

Also, I got the kit of ebay w/ the lights included - but will they produce errors?

I've also ordered some from replacement leds from AZN...

i'm sure there is somewhere but i haven't seen it . i can assure you that it is one of the easiest things to do . you just have to be able to reach both sides of the light ( the lens on the outside of the fender and the housing under the hood on the inside of the fender ) .

Ah - so from the hood and not the wheel well? That makes things less intimidating.

open the hood and look inside and you can see the inside of the light . it has nothing to do with the wheel well

If the included bulbs are not LEDS you should be good and no codes. You can also use your stock bulbs till your LEDS arrive. Very easy to change. Disconnect the wiring and bulb from the marker. Squeeze the tab on either side of the marker. The marker pushes out and the interior cover remains inside the engine bay. Install the new markers in reverse order. The driver's side marker is slightly harder to get at but still not much of a problem. Do the passenger side first to get the hang of it.

Done! Thanks for your help, guys!

I got pretty nervous when I saw the "25,000" volt yellow sticker.. but decided to press on anyway.. haha.. figuring someone would have warned someone if the battery had to be disconnected first.

I kept the stock bulbs on - but the ones I got with the sidemarkers are covered in silver - what effect does that have?

When you look at bulb in the marker it does not have the sunny side up fried egg look but glow orange when illuminated.

which ebay company did you order it from? I'm apprehensive about getting crappy products that fail soon after installing.

My bulb wasn't orange - just the marker.

Honestly, side by side, save for the colour, you can't tell which is OEM and which is aftermarket.

So now it lights up white in the new markers. If you need to be legal it needs to light up orange, thus the silver coated bulbs that light up orange but do not look yellow in the marker when the bulb is off.

There's a DIY to actually get the lens housing in and out of the car...I had it bookmarked, but I deleted it after installing mine. To be honest, you can google C63 amber lens replacement and it'll come up with the DIY from this site. That's what I did anyway. It took about 3 minutes each side to get the housing in place. Don't take the fender well out, just go through the hood. Wait till your engine isn't hot though.

So I was driving around today and noticed my car in a reflection - to my surprise, my sidemarkers were on. My lights were not, and they are set to "Auto" or whatever. Is this normal behaviour? I never bothered to investigate prior what was normal operation.

I just changed out the plastic housing, not the lights themselves.

So Mort - the LEDs I ordered from AZN are all white light - so you're saying I can't use them after all? I probably need to use the ones that came with the side markers then - the silver coated ones?

It depends on your local police. If they are nit pickers then they may hassle you about the lights. They may not even be aware of the rules or not bother you about such a small thing as the colour of the markers. I doubt they will bother you. If they give you a problem with the colour of the lights when they are lit then put in the silver coated bulbs. Otherwise use what you prefer. The silver coloured bulbs do give off an interesting colour when lit. I think you will likely be fine with AZN's LEDs.

Ah - ok - so this is not unexpected behaviour. I'm going to go ahead and swap them out for the AZN leds. Thanks Mort!

passenger side eyebrow inner LED doesn't seem to be on? Did you make sure it was plugged in with the right polarity and properly installed? Might want to check on that.

Thanks AZN - was just going to send you a note. Thanks for noticing! Will fix it this afternoon. Thank god it's not the inner driver side one. Oy!

yeah, they can be a pain to install. Angled needle nose pliers really help.
