2008 Mercedes C63
Great, Decent, or Bad Deal on C63...?
I have an opportunity to purchase a C63 for $40K.
2008 Mercedes C63
Fully Loaded (No Performance Package)
White on Black
20K Miles
No Accidents
Clean Title, 1 Owner
This vehicle is being sold by a friend of a friend. He has not listed it publicly yet. I think I can haggle him down to $40K plus shipping/pick-up costs.
What do you think about this deal? Don't these vehicles depreciate quickly? I am not sure if this is a deal worth laying the cash out for, or I should wait for something at a lower entry. Not desperate to pick one up, but will if the price is right.

It's a pretty fair deal. If it's clean and this is the model of car for you, then jump.
These cars do depreciate but your car is at the lower end -- price-wise -- so you won't feel the depreciation as time goes by as much as someone who paid 2-3 grand more.
The main thing is finding a model that is clean and well taken care of. If the car belongs to a friend of a friend, perhaps you can inquire about service history (proof if possible), including oil changes.

I think he was just saying that AMG cars can cost a good amount to repair if a problem arises, and MY 09's and newer generally have more warranty remaining on them.
However, there are situations where an 08' can be CPO and will come with an extra year of warranty vs. an 09' being sold by a private seller, which would not carry with it a CPO warranty.

I would say It's an ok deal. Make to check the paint work before you buy it. Touch where the front bumper meets the headlights, if your finger slides and the paint is smooth the bumper is most likely unpainted. Also do this on the edges of the fenders, doors, trunk and the hood. Check the screws on the hood and the trunk. An inspection is always better but these are quick tips for you. Enjoy your new 63. It's an amazing machine.
