Bolt on Modification Questions....

Do I need to do an ECU tune on my 2012 APX C63 if I add AFE dry filters and MBH X pipe? Or can I just bolt them on, let the ECU "adapt" and go?

Should I remove the carbon canisters on an APX car? I remember reading that another owner had a CEL come on after removing them (APX equipped as well). CEL turned off after putting them back in.

Thanks in advance!

Performance Package Plus basically (except it comes with LSD and stiffer suspension)

I doubt you would need to re-tune for an x-pipe and filters but throttle response may change a little. Sound will definitely change.

When I say I doubt you would need a tune, I just mean I doubt the engine's AFR would change in any harmful way. Do I think AMG/MB could customize their tune to take advantage of the filters and x-pipe (if there is any)? Yes, they would be the people who could do that. But, outside of tuning to maximize power, it would be more about drivability.

Still, outside of tuning for maximizing power and drivability, I don't think tuning would be necessary to protect your engine from the installation of an x-pipe and filters on the stock tune.

I really suspect throttle feel would change. And that would be my concern. Maybe it would feel better. But maybe not. Kind of the only risk, IMO.

No need to tune,
I put in K&N filters, removed my charcoals and deleted my 2ndary cats prior to getting a tune with no problems.

Awesome! Thanks again for your help and input.

So with those few mods was there any driveability changes good or bad?

I'm using AFE Dry filters. I don't know anything about the effects of K&Ns and a CEL.

No problem.
Driveability felt the same, the main reason why I removed the charcoals and dropped in K&N's was to help the engine breathe a little better.
I'm guessing maybe +/- 3-5hp increase.
