Drag Strip in Socal ( During weekends ) ?
hello folks , so i just drove 45 min to a drag strip, i think it was called rock auto well thats what it said on the wrist band. i tried my car at first, i pressed the pedal after the green light by a while ( nervous ). and ended up hitting the break before reaching the seconds limiter. so i think i messed it up but i got 8.57s in 1/8mile. so they required me to wear a helmet and sadly i didnt know. waited the line and when it was my turn they pulled me around and told me that i need a helmet to race. so i kept on watching my friends racing with their cars. do you guys know any drag strips near the san fernando valley area that are open during the next days. im too excited i need to drag race before next thursday

I don't have experience racing on 1/8 miles but i do know that NHRA requires you to have a helmet if you run 13.99 or quicker in the 1/4 mile. I know you also have to have full long pants and full enclose shoes(not flip-flops). It sucks that you had to abandone so early.

What track did you go to? Irwindale also has an 1/8 mile strip.
There are no drag strips in the San Fernando Valley or near there, unfortunately.
That's too bad that you had to stop running because of no helmet. Must have been a real bummer. Irwindale also has a helmet rule for their 1/8 mile course and our cars -- stock -- would trigger the rule for you.

My car did 8.50's there stock then after a few years of practice and some mods 7.70.
You definately need a helmet. Irwindale is a very good place to go cause it is packed and the track stays sticky.
So cal was the birth of drag racing yet no place to go locally :-(.
Keep your eyes peeled for private events at Fomoso and Fontana.
