Pics driving the GT3
Guys,
Some members PM'd and asked me to post some more pics of latest sessions in the SLS GT3 so here they are. One day was dry and ran slicks and the next day it poured rain which was a whole different challenge. Sorry to bore if you with these but responding to requests.
Just finished up AMG Academy Pro event at Red Bull Ring in Austria. Very fast track! Here is a little treat - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tU6NgwjT0qM one of the guys brought their SLR 722 to the track. That thing is a monster. sorry about vid quality...didn't have time to do proper video as I was running between SLS and getting into GT3. Off to Eurospeedway on Monday for another day in GT3. This is where this video was shot. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=75xdlP5AxYw

Thanks. Yup sitting in garage for winter. Hardly drove it all. Hard to go back to SLS after the GT3 but don't see dropping 500K on a GT3 anytime soon.
Have to be honest and say that SLS is boring in some ways in comparison to C63. The C63 has more "play" when pushing on track and in some ways is simply more fun to drive at times. I drove the AMG instructor C63 Coupe with PP and LTH (with some extra modifications by HWA) on Red Bull and it is a blast. This for sure is not your standard C63 Coupe at all! Thing hauls a--!

Why am I not surprised that an AMG instructor has already slapped a set of long tubes on his coupe? I can't imagine being able to do that for a living!
Thanks as always for sharing and it's great to see Keith being envious for a change!

Thanks for posting! Must have been fun driving the former A1-Ring. It's indeed a very fast track, but used to be even faster with the old configuration.
BTW, I see you're using Stand21 ..... I have their CF helmet, but not the suit. How do you like it?

Yeah I have a DD21 helmet (the helmet in pics is AMG's as they use a non-standard intercom system for the Academy and my helmet has standard system) and it is very light. The suit I had done a couple of months ago (takes 4-5 weeks to get made depending upon design) and it is really light weight and breathes well. In use some of their underwear but use Alpinestar gloves as they prove much better feel than the Stand21 FIA cert gloves.

The first day it was raining and man was the track slick. The surface is one a few in Europe where when it is wet there is very little grip and some of the turns need to be taken at 60kmph-90 max. A few offs and one guy smoked it through gravel in a CLS 63 with lots of underpan damage and wheel damage as well.

That circuit is lethal when it rains ..... like you said, very slick, and on top doesn't drain well. But I'm sure you had a great time.
Hey, it's 8 in the morning where you are ..... time to get behind the wheel

I wish....time to do some work and pay the bills for all this track time. On the suit get a ST221 HSC as it met all my needs and is FIA certified. I didn't see the need to go to Airforce or 3000 model as the cost increases didn't merit what I needed suit for. Still very high quality.
PM me your address and I will send you FIA certified AMG branded balaclava.

Absolutely amazing!!
I'm sure it was an incredible experience getting behind the wheel of that track monster.
Btw That SLR 722 sounded like bloodthirsty monster!
