Winter wheel/tires for 09 C63?
I'm very close to buying a low mileage 09 C63 and wanted to get some info on winter wheels / tires to use in Ontario (Ottawa) winters.
It has the stock 18" wheels which should have 235/40/18 fronts and 255/35/18 rears.
What do those of you who have to drive in the winter do? Buy new wheels and winter tires? I presume with the AMG brakes, it must use an 18" min wheel? I have some 17" Evolution wheels off my C320 Coupe - presume those won't clear the brakes?
For winter tires - I've used Blizzak LM22's before and WS50s along with some Michelin IceX tires.
I don't really care about looks for the winter 0 hell I might even buy a set of 18" steelies
Thoughts?

I am running 245,40.18 all around (Michelin PA3 / MO) on Stock 18's. Great tire. Great in Dry, Wet, Snow and Ice. VERY quiet too. (Major bonus)

Snow tires
I like the black steel wheel look! It reminds me of how the Germans used to roll in the winter...everyone was sporting steel wheels in the winter. I wasn't able to find them for my E63 but ran them for a number of winters on my M5.
You can't go wrong with the LM22 for snow and they give you the flexibility to do some spirited driving. I remember finding out LM15 were great on snow covered road but were scary otherwise on dry pavement over 70mph. I've read that the 50s replaced the LM15 so I assume they are an improvement over the LM15, but they still lack the higher speed rating of the LM22.

TireRack recommends 225/40-18 square and I will run those in Blizzak LM-60s this winter. Great performance winter for those who see real winter. Another benefit is the ability to rotate the tires and get more life out of the rears (which will be short regardless).
I bought a set of replicas of the OEM 18s (Power Wheels or USA Rims sells them) in an 18x8 size.
