I think you're reading HIS post wrong:
"Meet the the new 5.5L V8 Biturbo Engine from AMG, This AMG Engine is currently used in the 2012 CLS63 and E63 AMG, the new 5.5L Biturbo V8 AMG engine is going to replace the 6.2L V8 that is currently used in the C63 AMG."
He didn't mean it's going to replace the 6.2 in the C, he meant it's going to replace the 6.2 in the CLS and E, that's currently in the C (I just confused myself).

Mercedes Benz is moving onto the 5.5L Biturbo Engine in quiete a few of the AMG models including the E63, CLS63 and S63 (the 2012 Models already have the new 5.5L Biturbo Engine), the C Class is probably going to get the same treatment engine wise next year, whether its for the better or worse, only Mercedes Benz AMG knows, the new M157 is more efficient and more power than the M156 due to the Turbos.

Seems kinda odd though... If it's true about the c63 getting the new engine for the 2013, I wonder why they didn't just put it in to the new facelifted c63?

Because it is expensive to retrofit and because it gives the market another reason to consider a C63 next year. For me, I am NOT interested in a turbo. I would take a NA engine any day even if gas mileage sucks. Especially a large displacement engine like in the C63.

I've never driven a turbo MB so I can't comment but my family has owned multiple BMW's including a new N55 X5 3.0 and the response certainly isn't there. You feel the lag. You can't replicate the response of a N/A engine with turbo's.

Having a 3.6 Twin Turbo Porsche and a C63, for everyday driving the C63 wins everytime. Now if I could afford a 4.0 NA 997GT3RS, that might be a different story.

My experience with BMW's turbo engines (the N54 in the 335i anyway) has been FANTASTIC. Aside from going in once in a while to replace the high pressure fuel pump under warranty, the engine was incredibly strong with zero turbo lag and after just a full exhaust and a tune I repeatedly smoked these GT500s (they probably had traction issues in all reality). I'm not here to talk about all that crap though, for however much I would love to see the 5.5 in the C63, I doubt they will do it for a few years for fear of stepping on the toes of their flagship sedans. But what do I know?

Guys I think the reason they passed on putting the turbo in the 2012 is the same reason it probably won't go into the 2013. It simply doesn't fit under the hood of the current C class design. The 6.2L even requires shoe horning and some modifications. If they do plan on putting the turbo engine in the C63 then I would expect that they'll be doing a redesign of the car

I should have read a few threads down .... this same discussion is taking place on another thread too. Looks like the 5.5 will likely be in the revised model (2015-ish) as a naturally aspirated 5.5 ( posted on the other thread by someone with a source @ MB?) This makes sense and seems pretty sound to me. They have to do away with the 6.2 for fuel economy reasons and need a replacement so they'll steal the 5.5 N/A engine from the SLK 55. Probably tune it up a bit and of course do some tweaks to handling and weight etc to get the performance up to what is expected out of the C63 and its offerings of PP and BS. Would be nice to see a turbo or supercharged version in the C though... I guess time will tell

Someone is pretty sure it will be the 5.5 but non-turbo

NO! The 5.5 Liter would eliminate the staggering torque advantage over competitors and I'm skeptical about how much more power is left in that engine (if any, I doubt it'll ever make more than 500 HP staying N/A), and no turbos either, the responsive, high revving nature of the M156 characterizes the C63 perfectly.

That's a load of crap and pure urban legend...Brabus proved 3 years ago you can stuff a 6.3 V12 Twin Turbo in a C Class....
If you think they had to shoehorn a 6.2, what do you think they did when they had 6 header tubes on each side
Merecedes/AMG/Brabus engineers have proven they can do whatever they want...that's why they can build the best suite of performance cars in the world....without limits
There is no 5.5 TT in the C Class because they want a clear delineation when it comes to performance. You stuff the 5.5TT in the entry level AMG C class and it will walk on the E/CLS/CL/S Class AMG's all day and that does not make sense from a pricing perspective.
If you want big power you have to step up to the E/CLS/CL/S

30K difference without options. When I said 40K I was thinking of the CLS. Forgot the E gets the TT also.

But a base E63 for 89k vs an optioned out (my personal options) C63 for 83k? Guess it depends on what you are looking for.
